Co-continuous blend of a fluoropolymer and a thermoplastic and method

Tube units useful for a variety of application are provided. Preferably, individual laminated tubes are joined to each other by intermediate pieces to produce a wide ribbon of parallel tubes. The tubes are porous to certain substances, allowing them to serve as an apparatus to exchange material between two or more fluid streams. The tubes are particularly useful as membrane modules for exchange of material between two fluids. Continuous and discontinuous methods for constructing such tube units are also taught.

Tube unit and process for its fabrication

The invention concerns a thin film of a permanent hydrophobic and optionally oleophobic finish for polymer surfaces. The film is formed from at least one layer of a water-soluble polycation and cationic synthetic resin. For further improvement of the oleophobic and permanent hydrophobic properties the film can additionally contain a long-chain surfactant or an alkyl-substituted polyanion.

Permanent hydrophobic and oleophotic modification for polymer surfaces

A new porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and a process for the production thereof is provided. Both the PTFE and the process excel by the fact that polytetrafluoroethylene is radiation-chemically degraded, the degraded polytetrafluoroethylene is mixed with a high-molecular emulsion polymerisate of polytetrafluoroethylene and the mixture is extruded, stretched and may additionally be sintered.
