This application provides a temperature gradient control system for a double wall casing of a compressor. The double wall casing may include an inner casing and an outer casing such that a flow of air is pulled through the double wall casing. The temperature gradient control system may include upper discharge piping with an upper modulation valve and a lower discharge piping with a lower modulation valve. The upper modulation valve and/or the lower modulation valve modulate the flow air pulled through the double wall casing to reduce a temperature gradient across the outer casing.

Temperature gradient control system for a compressor casing

A system includes an inducer assembly configured to receive a fluid flow from compressor fluid source and to turn the fluid flow in a substantially circumferential direction into the exit cavity. The inducer assembly includes multiple flow passages. Each flow passage includes an inlet configured to receive the fluid flow and an outlet configured to discharge the fluid flow into the exit cavity, and each flow passage is defined by a first wall portion and a second wall portion extending between the inlet and the outlet. The first wall portion includes a first surface adjacent the outlet that extends into the exit cavity.

Flow inducer for a gas turbine system

A turbine in a gas turbine engine that includes a stator blade and a rotor blade having a seal formed in a trench cavity. The trench cavity may include an axial gap defined between opposing inboard faces of the stator blade and rotor blade. The seal may include: a stator overhang extending from the stator blade toward the rotor blade so to include an outboard edge and an inboard edge and, defined therebetween, an overhang face; a rotor outboard face extending radially inboard from a platform edge, the rotor outboard face opposing at least a portion of the overhang face across the axial gap of the trench cavity; and a first axial projection extending from the rotor outboard face toward the stator blade. The stator overhang and the first axial projection of the rotor blade may be configured so to axially overlap.

Gas turbine sealing

A gas turbine engine having a turbine that includes a stator blade and a rotor blade having a seal formed in a trench cavity defined therebetween. The seal may include: a stator overhang extending from the stator blade toward the rotor blade so to include an overhang topside, and, opposite the overhang topside, an overhang underside; a rotor outboard face extending radially inboard from a platform edge, the rotor outboard face opposing at least a portion of the overhang face across the axial gap of the trench cavity; an axial projection extending from the rotor outboard face toward the stator blade so to axially overlap with the stator overhang; and an interior cooling channel extending through the stator overhang to a port formed through the overhang underside. The port may be configured to direct a coolant expelled therefrom toward the axial projection.

A system for cooling an angelwing coupled to a rotor blade in a gas turbine engine is provided. An angelwing coupled to a shank of a rotor blade includes at least one cooling passage extending from at least one inlet opening coupled in flow communication with a gas turbine engine inner wheelspace to at least one outlet opening coupled in flow communication with a gas turbine engine outer rotor/stator cavity. The at least one outlet opening is located in an upper surface of the angelwing. The at least one cooling passage receives pressurized cooling air channeled from the inner wheelspace, such that the pressurized cooling air is channeled into the at least one inlet opening and discharged from the at least one outlet opening.

Method and system for cooling rotor blade angelwings

According to one embodiment, there is disclosed an inducer assembly for use with a gas turbine engine. The inducer assembly may include a cavity. The inducer assembly may also include an inducer in fluid communication with the cavity. Moreover, the inducer assembly may include at least one guide vane disposed within the cavity.

A system for recirculating a hot gas flowing through a gas turbine generally includes a transition piece having a downstream surface, a stationary nozzle having a leading edge surface adjacent to the transition piece downstream surface, a gap defined between the transition piece downstream surface and the stationary nozzle leading edge surface, and a projection having an inner arcuate surface radially separated from an outer surface. The projection generally extends from the stationary nozzle leading edge surface towards the transition piece downstream surface and at least partially decreases the gap. A seal extends across the gap and may be in contact with the transition piece and the stationary nozzle leading edge surface. A recirculation zone may be at least partially defined between the projection inner arcuate surface, the stationary nozzle leading edge surface and the transition piece downstream surface.
