Devices, apparatus, and methods to treat Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and related telomeres including perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctanesulfonic (PFOS), and other recalcitrant highly stable organic compounds, substances, organic matter, infectious fluids, bacteria, viruses and other pathogens, endocrine disruptors, pharmaceutical, and otherwise oxidizable material contaminants in water, aqueous fluids, condensates, concentrates, brines, and spent solid adsorbent media. The system can include hydrodynamic cavitation; acoustic sonication; electrochemical oxidation; in-line static mixing; and supplemental reagent precursors to create powerful oxidizing conditions within the equipment, and oxidants by the system that destroy said contaminants.

Systems to treat PFAS and other persistent organic compounds and oxidizable matter in aqueous fluids

Treatment technology directed to using mine waste as a raw material to manufacture a mine filling product for use as a suitable precursor product or mine filling product to be used as a backfill material to close a mine. The precursor product or mine filling product retains its metals and is not be able to generate acidity. According to the disclosure, the precursor product or mine filling product, when placed in a mine, may also remove metals from mine fluids in the mine it contacts, and still retain the metals it hosted when it was a mine waste prior to it being used as a raw material to manufacture the precursor stowing backfill product.

Closure methods for mines

Devices and associated methods described herein in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can, for example, treat acidity and remove suspended solids and heavy metals from acid mine and acid rock drainage, as well as from other acidic and various aqueous fluids of various pH. The disclosed system includes a cavitation/electro-coagulation reaction chamber, solids separation, and other optional components including a passive media contact reaction chamber, and/or an oxidation/reduction electrode assembly to facilitate or expand upon parameters requiring treatment. The disclosed system can be packaged in small housing units suitable for insertion within mine tunnels or adits, but may also be expanded for large scale applications.

Systems and methods for treating acidity, heavy metals, and solids in acid mine drainage and other aqueous fluids

Mixing devices and associated methods are described herein. Various embodiments of mixing devices can comprise a plate configured to rotate about a longitudinal axis and a plurality of enclosures coupled to the plate. The enclosures can each include (a) at least one sidewall that defines an oblique angle with the plate and (b) a chamber configured to receive a media and a fluid. The enclosures can be fluidly coupled to a fluid source for receiving the fluid in the chambers. When the plate is rotated, the enclosures revolve about the longitudinal axis to mix the media with the fluid in the chambers.

Revolving chamber oscillation mixing devices and associated methods

A chalk line marking device includes a chalk line that is held in a storing, dispensing and retracting device. The device comprises a housing and an element for gripping the chalk line when it is extended from the dispensing device and lifting it from the workpiece surface at a point remote from the device. A spring mechanism causes the gripping element to suddenly snap back to its original position, when released, thereby causing the chalk line to leave a linear chalk mark on the workpiece surface. The device may also comprise a gripping element arranged within the housing that includes a plunger responsive to movement of the housing, for lifting and suddenly releasing the gripping element. A worker can extend the chalk line with one hand while holding the dispensing device in the other hand. The hand holding the dispensing device can actuate the gripping element with the thumb, for example, of that same hand while the other hand holds the extended end of the chalk line in position, thereby not requiring a third hand to snap the chalk line.

Hands free chalk line snapper

Food stuff maturity sensing and inspection apparatus particularly suited for sensing the maturity of head lettuce and the like. The sensing apparatus utilizes an x-ray radioactive source for directing radiation toward the growing vegetable, with an x-ray detector on the opposite side of the vegetable detecting the attenuation of the radiation caused by the density of the vegetable therebetween. The normal inverse exponential attenuation of radiation caused by an object between a source and sensor is effectively linearized by the use of a simple high accuracy logarithmic count rate circuit. The relatively low energy of x-ray emitters such as Cadmium 109 results in greater rates of change of the detected signal for a given change of density of the vegetables in the path of the radiation. The technique may also be used to detect foreign materials harvested with food crops from the density differences detected by the apparatus.
