Described herein are foamable compositions and methods of making foamed compositions. The foamable composition comprises at least one polymer and a foaming agent. The foaming agent comprises a talc or a talc derivative. The polymers described herein comprise a substantially non-halogenated polymer. One or more additives are added to render the compositions flame retardant and/or smoke suppressant. Also described are Power over Ethernet (PoE) cables, having at least one electrical conduit comprising an electrically conductive core, an insulation that at least partially surrounds said electrically conductive core and a polymeric separator extending from a proximal end to a distal end and having at least one channel adapted for receiving the at least one electrical conduit. The PoE cables are capable of carrying about 1 watt to about 200 watts of power.

Compositions for compounding, extrusion and melt processing of foamable and cellular halogen-free polymers

In one aspect, the present invention relates to a communications cable, which comprises a support separator providing a plurality of channels for receiving transmission media, said support separator comprising a first polymeric material, at least one optical fiber disposed in one of said channels, at least an electrical conductor capable of carrying at least about 10 watts of electrical power disposed in another one of said channels, an insulation at least partially covering said electrical conductor, a jacket surrounding said support separator and said transmission media, said jacket comprising a second polymeric material. In some embodiments, the first and second polymeric materials can be the same material, and in other embodiments, they can be different materials.

Compositions for compounding, extrusion, and melt processing of foamable and cellular polymers

An electrical cable includes a cable jacket extending a length and having an internal passageway that extends along the length of the cable jacket. Twisted pairs of insulated electrical conductors extend within the internal passageway along the length of the cable jacket. Each twisted pair includes two insulated conductors twisted together in a helical manner. At least two optical fibers extend within the internal passageway along the length of the cable jacket. The optical fibers are independently held within the internal passageway of the cable jacket relative to each other.

Cabling includes a jacket surrounding a core, and a separator positioned in the core. The separator has at least one shield segment defining walls separating the core into a plurality of chambers each configured to receive a plurality of twisted wire pairs. Each shield segment includes a metallic layer and a laminate layer, wherein the laminate layer defines an exposed surface of the wall of the corresponding chamber.

A cable includes a round core having at least one twisted pair of insulated wires. A jacket surrounds the core, and the jacket includes at least one spline projecting inward from an inner surface of the jacket, wherein at least a portion of the twisted pair is positioned between the spline and a center of the core. The spline extends continuously on the inner surface of the jacket along a longitudinal axis of the core.

A low-profile cable is provided and includes a body having upper and lower portions that extend a length of the body and also having opposite sidewalls joining the upper and lower portions to one another. The cable also includes passages that are located between the sidewalls. The passages extend the length of the body and are configured to receive at least one twisted pair of conductors. Also, the cable includes a load-bearing structural section that spans between the upper and lower portions. The structural section includes opposing wall supports separated by a pocket channel therebetween. The structural section is configured to support the upper and lower portions and substantially resist deformation of the passages when external forces are induced onto at least one of the upper and lower portions.

Low-profile cable

An electrical connector (2) comprises an insulating housing (4) supporting a row of electrical terminals (6). Each terminal (6) has a mating portion (18) and solder tail (20). The solder tail (20) constructed as a spring leg consists of a first portion (22) for engaging against an internal wall of a hole (H) in a circuit board (PCB) and a second portion (24) for engaging against the bottom edge of the hole (H). The first and second portions (22, 24) of each solder tail (20) are obtusely angled with respect to each other and are connected by a bight (23). The solder tail (20) can be inserted through the hole (H) and the housing (4) rotated on the board PCB so that the solder tail is elastically deformed about the bight (23) and is thereby stressed between the internal wall of the hole (H) and the bottom corner of the hole (H). The connector (2) is thereby firmly secured to the circuit board (PCB) so that the second portion (24) of the solder tail (20) can be wave soldered to a contact pad (CP) on the bottom of the board (PCB). By virtue of the spring leg construction of the solder tail (20) the hole (H) need not be tightly toleranced.
