Method and apparatus for supporting massive random access An access device configures resources for a proxy-based random access operation to the network and transmits an indication of the configured resources and of at least one identified support device and of a plurality of identified terminal devices to use the proxy-based random access operation, wherein the at least one support device is instructed by the indication to act as a proxy for the proxy-based random access operation. Then, the proxy-based random access operation can be enabled for the identified plurality of terminal devices via the at least one support device.

Method and apparatus for supporting massive random access

A terminal device selects are source indicator to be used for non-scheduled access and transmits it to an access device of the network in the non-scheduled access. If it determines based on a response to the non-scheduled access, that it has selected the same resource indicator as another terminal device, it keeps the resource indicator but selects different physical random access channel occasions by setting a time offset for a retransmission with the selected resource indicator. An initial waiting time may be determined by the access device (e.g. based on a traffic amount on the access channel) and transmitted to the terminal device for setting the time offset. Also, a layer (2) error caused by a random access channel resource collision of terminal devices may be determined at the access device and a feedback indicating a non-acknowledgement for layer (2) may be transmitted to colliding terminal devices.

Improving handover time

Configuration information including location and radio capabilities for first and second network nodes (for example, DeNB and RN respectively) are provided to register them to a spectrum access system (SAS). To establish a DeNB-RN backhaul link on a shared radio spectrum the DeNB sends the SAS a request for radio resources and authorization to transmit. The configuration information and/or the request indicates the DeNB and the RN belong to a backhaul system. The DeNB receives a grant for the radio resources and authorization, and broadcasts the authorization to the RN. The RN scans a broadcast channel while its receiver is active and its transmitter is inactive; detects the authorization to transmit, changes its transmitter from inactive to active, and transmits a reply to the DeNB's broadcast. The RN's reply to the DeNB's broadcast is used to establish the backhaul link.

Coordinating spectrum authorization for backhaul connections

An interference control method and apparatus in a self-organizing system are provided. The method includes the following steps: interference information is received at an access node from at least two other access nodes, wherein the other access nodes serve communication devices interfered by the access node; then the interference information is evaluated at the access node to determine at least one action that could be taken because of the interference; information about the determined at least one action is communicated to at least one of the at least two other access nodes, and the recipient node is operated accordingly.

Relaying communications in advanced LTE systems

A second handover of a user equipment from a cell B to a cell C of a cellular communications network is successfully completed, wherein a successful completion of a first handover of the user equipment from a cell A of the cellular communications network to the cell B has immediately preceded the second handover. The second handover is determined as being a rapid handover at the cell B and/or the cell C based on a detection that the second handover of the user equipment has been initiated from the cell B to the cell C within a configurable period of time since the successful completion of the first handover, and the rapid handover is reported to the cell A.

A method is proposed by which a mobile device is controlled, which is capable of establishing connection with a first and at least a second type radio access network, the first and the second type radio access network operating with different radio access technologies.
