A combination of calixarene bisphosphite ligand and an organophosphine ligand. The combination can be employed with a catalytic metal to form a complex catalyst. The catalyst can be employed in ahydroforaiylation process for producing a mixture of aldehydes.

Hydroformylation process

A gas phase catalytic hydroformylation process for producing at least one aldehyde product in the presence of a transition metal-ligand complex hydroformylation catalyst and water vapor. Surprisingly, catalyst activity can be sustained by having traces of water vapor in the feed stream. Additionally, additional ligand can be added to replace lost ligand to maintain activity. In addition, it has been found that treatment of the catalyst with a buffer can rejuvenate catalyst activity.

Gas phase hydroformylation process

An improved method for the manufacture of MIBK and DIBK from DMK and/or IPA, by reacting, in the presence of an aldol condensation catalyst, a gaseous mixture comprising hydrogen and DMK and/or IPA. The improvement is the use of a reaction pressure greater than 207 kPa (30 psig) to increase the ratio of MIBK to DIBK. In addition a method for the manufacture of MIBK and DIBK by reacting, in the presence of an aldol condensation catalyst, a gaseous mixture consisting essentially of DMK and/or IPA and optionally water.

This invention relates in part to a processes for the conversion of a feedstock stream comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen to a product stream comprising at least one of an ester, acid, acid anhydride and mixtures thereof. The reaction is effected in the vapor state over a solid catalyst comprising a polyoxometalate anion in which the metal is at least one taken from Group V and VI of the Periodic Chart of the Elements complexed with a cation from a member of Group VIIIA of the Periodic Chart of the Elements. Preferably, the catalyst is deposited on a support that is inert to the reaction. The preferred support is silica.
