Systems and methods are disclosed for a path guidance panel. The path guidance panel provides separate display screens for showing the lateral and vertical guidance information. Each screen shows the current state of the respective guidance system, and shows what, if anything, the respective guidance system will do next. This provides a convenient display for the pilot to see the current and future states of the guidance systems of the aircraft.

A flight management system for controlling navigation of an aircraft includes a path guidance panel having at least one mode selector for allowing user selection of guidance mode in which the aircraft is to operate. The system also includes at least one display device having rendered thereon a navigational map. A computer module receives aircraft data from one or more aircraft components, at least one of the aircraft components being a guidance system. The computer module is configured to use information obtained from the guidance system to cause the display device to render on the navigational map a current flight plan path that is the aircraft is following.

Apparatus and Method providing optimal duplication of the double-poling technique used in cross-county skiing. The apparatus includes dual hand grips that are adapted to &ldquo;wrap&rdquo; around a user's torso. The dual hand grips are attached by a cable or other suitable connector to a force generator. Because of the shape of the dual hand grips, the user can perform near-ideal double-poling technique in which the dual hand grips are first positioned above and in front of a user, and are then moved in a downward arc with the dual hand grips moving past the body plane to a movement-ending position in back of the person. In the Method of the present invention, a suitable stationary-rowing machine is adapted and modified to exhibit the characteristics of the Apparatus of the present invention. The longitudinal frame of such a stationary-rowing machine is placed in a substantially vertical orientation and the dual hand grips are interlocked with the operator handle of the stationary-rowing machine.
