Debugging of a transaction across multiple processors is facilitated by having debug information follow the transaction from processor to processor. The transaction can be debugged across processors without predefining the transaction path, and without performing a debug registration process between the client controlling the debugging and each processor of the multiple processors.

Debugging transactions across multiple processors

A high performance client/server editor and method for editing documents with improved performance. A server listening for editing requests from a client to edit a file located with the server spawns a thread for each editing request to handle that particular request. A client receiving input commands from a user for editing requests spawns a thread for each editing request received, enabling more than one editing request to be processed simultaneously. When an edit feature is invoked, the client sends a request to the server to download the file. While the file is downloading from the server to the client location, the client displays the first page of the file to the user to enable the user to start editing the file before the entire file is downloaded. The client handles the user's edit commands for portions of the file downloaded. If the user attempts to edit portions of the file not yet downloaded, the client sends a request to the server to handle the edit at the server location and send a response back to the client for display to the user by the client. Edit changes are sent to the server when user enters a save command. Alternatively, edit changes are sent to the server when bandwidth is available. When the user exits without saving these changes, the server discards the changes. In subsequent edit invokes of the same file, the client and server cooperate to download only those portions of the file which were changed since the last download.

High performance client/server editor

A system and method for storing, saving and printing information in a computer network system, particularly the internet, where a plurality of network server devices are in communication with at least one user device. First a network session is established between a user device and one or more of the network server devices. A display device is provided to show a target page including a plurality of first level link references for selection by the user. Each first level link reference in turn includes subsequent level link references. A server search is conducted to identify all level link references pertaining to a specified server network. The results are in turn stored, printed or saved at a memory location.

System and method for retrieval, saving and printing of using hyperlinks

A debugging apparatus for debugging a particular application, session or transaction in a computer network environment. The environment includes a plurality of clients in processing communication with one another. The apparatus comprises identifying means for identifying a debugging mechanism to the computing environment, a debug table accessible to the debugging apparatus for storing any pertinent information relating to said debugging apparatus, identifying means for identifying at least one client present in the environment. The debug table stores any and all pertinent information about any identified clients as well as whether or not a particular application, session or transaction needs to be debugged. A determining means is also provided for determining if a particular application, session or transaction needs debugging so that debugging operation can be started accordingly.

Debugging client server programs from third party workstations

A computer program device and a computer program product are introduced comprising a computer storage debugging device readable by a digital processing apparatus; and a debugging program means is introduced. The debugging program means is to be used with the program storage device and includes instructions executable by the digital processing apparatus for performing method steps for debugging a particular transaction in a computer network environment, where the environment includes a plurality of clients in processing communication with one another. The method steps comprise: identifying at least one client present in said environment and storing pertinent information about any identified clients; providing information about whether or not a particular session needs to be debugged; and determining if a particular session needs debugging so that debugging operation can be started accordingly.

A method for debugging of a particular application, session or transaction in a computer network environment. The environment includes a plurality of clients in processing communication with one another. The method comprises of the steps of identifying a debugging mechanism to the computing environment, identifying any particular client and storing its pertinent information in a debugging table accessible by said debugging mechanism, and accessing said debug table at a later time when necessary to determine if a particular application, session or transaction running on a particular client needs to be debugged and recover the characteristic of the particular client.

An on-screen search option menu will then be provided to allow any user to search all reference links provided by the target page and all subsequent pages, and to identify only specific references according to the menu selection made. Some of the menu selection provided according to different embodiments of the present invention are media searches, FTP file searches, HREF searches and usernet/newsgroup searches. In some embodiments of the present invention print and save options are also provided as well as depth of search limitations. In another embodiment of present invention, more than one menu selections can be made at one time, resulting in multiple field searches.
