An apparatus for sandals with interchangeable upper section consists of an upper portion, a sole, and a securing system. The upper portion is the only interchangeable component, and users can interchange different upper portions with one specific sole. The securing system consists of a plurality of male connectors and a plurality of female connectors. The plurality of male connectors is connected with the sole, and the plurality of female connectors is connected with the upper portion. The upper portion can be attached to the sole, when the plurality of female connectors is traversed into the plurality of male connectors. The apparatus for sandals with interchangeable upper section consists of many different colors and styles in order to complement a wide variety of customers.

An antimicrobial biocidic fiber-plastic composite is capable of killing bacteria on contact. The composite can be produced from a cellulose fiber material obtained from agricultural waste, a plastic material obtained from industrial waste, and one or more biocides that kill bacteria without being harmful to humans. Lignin is removed from the fiber material through a delignification process to allow the biocides to bind directly with the cellulose fibers. In one example, the biocides include Sodium Hypochlorite, N-chloro-p-toluenesulfonamide sodium salt-trihydrate, Vitamin E and Citric Acid. After adding the biocides, lignin is added back to the mixture to allow the cellulose fibers to bind with the plastic material. The fiber-plastic composition can then be extruded, pelletized, and molded into any shape or size.

Antimicrobial biocidic fiber-plastic composite and method of making same

An orthodontic device is worn in a mouth of a patient and is attached between an upper attachment portion secured to the maxillary teeth and a lower attachment portion secured to the mandibular teeth such that the device is proximal a cheek of the patient. The device is formed from a single flexible resilient spring element having a generally curved body portion where the body portion is defined to lie in a plane relative to a plane defined by the cheek of the patient. The spring element has first and second oppositely disposed end portions where the first end portion is configured to directly attach to the upper attachment portion. The second end portion is configured to directly attach to the lower attachment portion. The spring element produces an applied force between the upper and lower attachment portion operative to displace the maxillary teeth relative to the mandibular teeth. The first end portion includes a primary bend that is disposed substantially within the plane of the body portion and operative to vary the effective length of the spring element where the variation in the effective length of the spring element varies the applied force directed to the maxillary and mandibular teeth. The second end portion terminates in a loop configured to attach to the lower attachment portion.

A palatal expander which is used for expanding the upper jaw and for moving the maxillary teeth including a rotatable adjusting member and inner and outer expansion members. The adjusting member has an outer sleeve and an inner sleeve disposed partially within the outer sleeve. The expansion members are telescopically and threadedly received by the adjustable member whereby selective rotation of the adjusting member causes the outer and inner expansion members to move away from or toward each other.

Method and device for ketone measurement

An improved proportioning dialysis machine is disclosed herein. The machine includes an improved degassing system, dialysis solution flow rate and pressure control system, and sterilization system. The degassing system includes a degassing chamber, a first pump for applying a negative pressure to said chamber and a second pump for drawing degassed water from the chamber. The dialysis solution flow rate and pressure control system includes a restriction upstream of a dialyzer, a restriction placed downstream of the dialyzer, and a pump positioned downstream of the downstream restriction. The two restrictions can be adjusted in relation to the pump so as to control the flow rate and pressure within the dialyzer. The sterilization system includes a heater and controls and a valve for recirculating heated water through the proportioning machine so as to sterilize the interior thereof.
