In one general aspect, a microchannel heat exchanger is disclosed. It includes a cover, a base, and thermally conductive sheets between the cover and the base that each define a series of side-by-side lanes aligned with a flow direction. The lanes each include aligned slots that define microchannel segments and are separated by cross ribs. The sheets are stacked between the base and cover so as to cause at least some of the ribs to be offset from each other and allow the microchannel segments in the same lane in adjacent sheets to communicate with each other along the flow direction to define a plurality of microchannels in the heat exchanger.

Laminated microchannel heat exchangers

A dialysis system includes a filtration system capable of filtering a water stream, a water purification system capable of purifying said water stream in a non-batch process, a mixing system capable of producing a stream of dialysate from mixing one or more dialysate components with the water stream in a non-batch process, and a dialyzer system. The dialyzer may be a microfluidic dialyzer capable of being fluidly coupled to the stream of dialysate and a blood stream.

Micronozzle atomizers and methods of manufacture and use

A fluid micro-mixer apparatus includes a plurality of first microchannels for receiving a first fluid and a plurality of second microchannels for receiving a second fluid. A mixing chamber flow path is disposed to receive the first and second fluids after the first and second fluids exit their respective output ports. The mixing chamber flow path can include a first mixing chamber in the vicinity of the respective output ports, and the mixing chamber flow path can separate into at least two different flow paths downstream from the first mixing chamber.

Micro-channels, micro-mixers and micro-reactors

A fluid micro-mixer and micro-reactor array is provided having at least two bonded layers of micro-channels. The micro-mixer can include at least one input port and one output port, and a mixing and/or reaction port. At least one inlet stream separator layer can isolate the inlet ports from one another.

A method of forming a semiconductor device, the method including forming a substrate including a first surface having a non-doped region, forming an insulative material over the first surface of the substrate, forming a first conductive material over the first insulative material, forming an opening in the first conductive material that forms a path to the substrate that is substantially free of the first conductive material and the first insulative material, forming a second insulative material over the first conductive material, and forming a second conductive material over the second insulative material, wherein the second conductive material is formed in the opening and contacts the non-doped region of the substrate.

Method of fabricating a printhead

A fluid ejection device including: a substrate having a first surface having an non-doped region; a first insulative material disposed on a portion of the first surface, the first insulative material having a plurality of openings forming a path to the first surface; a first conductive material disposed on the first insulative material, the first conductive material being disposed so that the plurality of openings are substantially free of the first conductive material; a second insulative material disposed on the first conductive material and portions of the first insulative material, the second insulative material being disposed so that the plurality of openings are substantial free of the second insulative material and a second conductive material being disposed on second insulative material and within plurality of openings so that some of the second conductive material disposed upon the second insulative material is in electrical contact with the non-doped region on the substrate.

A fluid-jet printhead has a substrate on which at least one layer defining a fluid chamber for ejecting fluid is applied. The printhead includes an elevation layer disposed on the substrate and aligned with the fluid chamber. The printhead also includes a resistive layer disposed between the elevation layer and the substrate wherein the resistive layer has a smooth planer surface interfacing with the resistive layer.
