The present techniques provide a method for making wear surfaces comprising a thermoplastic matrix blended with ceramic particles. The wear surfaces may optionally contain other materials, such as friction modifying additives. Wear surfaces formed according to these techniques may be used to protect such surfaces as the side rails of conveyor belts, the teeth of buckets used on front end loaders, rock or debris chutes, and self dumping hoppers, among others.

A paging system in which a subscriber's telephone number is used as the PIN number to identify the subscriber's pager. When a caller places a call to the paging system, the caller enters the telephone number of the subscriber when prompted for a PIN. The paging system performs a database lookup to determine the address of the pager associated with the entered PIN. Alternatively, the entered PIN itself could be used as the address of the pager. Upon identification of the address of the pager, the paging system transmits a message including the address of the pager via radio transmission.

On instructions obtained from a subscriber, a wireless terminal service provider sends a power-down signal to a wireless terminal. Upon receipt of the power-down signal, the wireless terminal goes into a sleep state. In this state, all monitoring functions other than time, date and elapsed time are turned off. The power-down signal sets a clock, which can be located within the wireless terminal, to awaken the wireless terminal at the end of a discrete interval of time by powering-up the monitoring circuits. The wireless terminal service provider, by knowing the power-down/power-up time cycle of the wireless terminal, can alert a party attempting to contact the wireless terminal during the power-down period that the called party cannot be reached. The wireless terminal service provider can also offer various options to the calling party, such as providing the time when the called wireless terminal will next be on, offer to take a message which can be sent when the called wireless terminal is next on, offer to cancel any further attempt to send the message to the called wireless terminal, etc. Normally, the power-down control signal will condition the wireless terminal to assume the sleep state for a discrete interval of time. Extended intervals of time can be obtained by resending the control signal at the end of the discrete interval of time. If desired, a two-part control signal can be sent to the wireless terminal where one part conditions the wireless terminal to assume the power-down state and the other part controls the duration of the power-down state.

A weather resistant cabinet for housing electrical equipment includes a one-piece, unitary tubular housing. The tubular housing has two open ends and is preferably formed from aluminum using a deep-drawing process. Two covers are attached to the two open ends of the tubular housing. The two covers include heat sinks and are preferably formed from aluminum using an extruding process. The covers are attached to the tubular housing using either mechanical fasteners and a gasket, or by a dip-brazing process.

A cabinet includes a hinged tracking system for attaching a door to the cabinet. The hinged tracking system allows the door to translate rectilinearly away from the cabinet, as well as rotate with respect to the cabinet. The hinged tracking system includes a track member attached to a side wall of the cabinet, and a slide member slidable with respect to the track member. An intermediate member may be disposed between the track member and the slide member to increase the linear travel of the slide member. A hinge is located between the slide member and the door. The track member and the slide member may include stoppers which prevent overtravel of the slide member with respect to the track member, so that the slide member does not inadvertently slide completely off of the track member. The slide member may also include a locking system for locking the slide member in a maximum extended position, and for locking the hinge in a closed position or an open position.

Hinged tracking system

A power connector for receipt and releasable engagement with a wire to effect a transmitting power electrical connection to the wire. The power connector includes a connector housing having a wire insertion side with an opening for receiving the wire. A spring contact is disposed within the housing and includes an attachment end for attaching the spring contact to the connector housing and a contact end for contact with the wire. The spring contact includes a substantially C-shaped segment extending between the attachment end and contact end. The C-shaped segment is dimensioned to be maintained under compression and so that the spring contact applies a contact force against an inserted wire at the contact end with a force sufficient for supporting the conducting of electricity between the wire and contact end. The C-shaped segment is further oriented so that when a lateral force is imparted to the C-shaped segment from the wire-insertion side of the housing, the contact force applied against the wire is reduced to thereby reduce the force required to disengage and remove the wire from the connector housing.

A mounting assembly includes a metallic base member, such as a wall of an enclosure. A threaded stud is fused to the base member. A threaded collar engages the threaded stud and provides a threaded recess for receiving a mounting fastener. The mounting assembly is well-suited for supporting electronic items within an enclosure in a weather-tight or water-proof manner because the mounting assembly requires no seals for an environmental barrier.

A heating/cooling apparatus for electronic components of a wireless base station is described. The apparatus includes a heat exchanger having a material-filled chamber and a plurality of extrusions. The chamber is located adjacent to the electronic components. A heater is provided within the chamber. The material within the chamber, which is preferably a liquid, serves to conduct heat from the electronic components to the extrusions. The heater serves to heat the material within the chamber, which in turn conducts that heat to the electronic components, when heat is required to maintain operation of the components with prescribed parameters.

A lockable piano-type hinge assembly including a locking hinge piece in addition to two hinge pieces which include the hinge pin barrels. The hinge pin is secured to the locking hinge piece which has an opening aligned with a locking loop secured to one of the hinge pieces. When the hinge assembly is assembled, the locking loop extends through the opening of the locking hinge piece and a locking device is insertable through the locking loop to prevent relative movement of the locking hinge piece and removal of the hinge pin from the barrels.

Outdoor, electronic component containing cabinets are cooled by forced circulation of outside air through the cabinet for direct, cooling contact with the components. The incoming air is filtered, heated as necessary to evaporate water droplets in the air prior to entry of the air into the component containing portions of the cabinet, and the air flow is regulated for slowing the flow rate of the air within the cabinet as is necessary for maintaining the relative humidity within the cabinet below a maximum percentage; typically 40%.

A structure on which various equipment, particularly outdoor electronic cabinets, can be mounted comprises a shallow, box-like frame including rigid sides, bottom plates secured to the sides, and cross braces extending between and secured to opposite sides. For rigidity and strength, the cross braces comprise U-beams having upper and lower laterally extending flanges, the upper flanges serving as horizontal surfaces for the mounting of equipment on the support. In a preferred use, the support structure is placed on the ground at a cleared outdoor site and locally available ballast is loaded into the structure for firmly anchoring it in place.

An EDS tester is combined with an employee identifier and recording monitor so as to provide and audit trail of compliance with the fact of ESD testing and, if desired, a record of the ESD test results such as body resistance or charge. In one illustrative embodiment, a fingerprint identifier pad is used together with the ESD test to identify a unique biological characteristic of the worker being tested. In addition, the feature of providing physical contact with the workers body typically required for ESD testing may be combined with the fingerprint identifier pad thereby enabling the ESD test results to be correlated with a specific individual.
