A device enables a sheet pile to be lifted from a horizontal position on the ground to a vertical position in the air, where it can be attached to a vibratory hammer. The device comprises two members, one of which attaches to the sheet pile and the other to the vibratory hammer. The two members are rotatably connected by a spindle, and they can be alternately locked into an extended (straight vertical) or bent (perpendicular) orientation by a lever-actuated spring-loaded key in the lower member that engages one or more slots in the upper member.

Device and method for lifting sheet piles

Apparatus mountable in a projectile for utilization with a rotor-type safing and arming mechanism for post-launch self-neutralization of a projectile having a fused warhead and a stab detonator, including a launch-activated battery, an electric detonator positioned sufficiently close to the stab detonator to initiate the stab detonator upon initiation of the electric detonator, and a time delay switch circuit operatively interconnecting the battery and the electric detonator after a predetermined delay time for delivering power sufficient to initiate the electric detonator. The time delay switch circuit includes an R-C delay circuit having a delay capacitor, and an SCR connected in series between the electric power source and the electric detonator, with the SCR gate operatively connected to the delay capacitor. The apparatus also includes a pre-launch shorting circuit electrically connected in parallel with the electric detonator, and a current amplifier interconnected with the SCR and a storage capacitor.

RC time delay self-destruct fuze

Apparatus mountable in a projectile for utilization with a rotor-type safing and arming mechanism for post-launch self-neutralization of a spinning projectile having a fused warhead and a stab detonator, including a launch-activated battery, an electric detonator positioned sufficiently close to the stab detonator to initiate the stab detonator upon initiation of the electric detonator, and a spin decay switch circuit operatively interconnecting a charged storage capacitor and the electric detonator upon substantial cessation of projectile spin, for delivering power sufficient to initiate the electric detonator. The apparatus includes a storage capacitor charging circuit activated by launch-induced forces. The apparatus further includes a pre-launch shorting circuit electrically connected in parallel with the electric detonator and deactivated by launch forces, and a 'bleed' circuit connected in parallel with the battery activated by launch-induced forces.

Spin-decay self-destruct fuze

In an ammunition fuzing system, a fuze setter is inductively coupled with an electronic fuze incorporated in the projectile of an ammunition round being fed to a rapid-fire cannon to transmit power supply charging energy and fuze-setting data thereto. A detonation counter is incremented at a high counting rate to accumulate a projectile flight time count indicative of the fuze-setting data. A conformation signal is transmitted to the fuze setter for determination that the flight time count acceptably corresponds to the setting data. Upon projectile launch, the detonation counter is decremented at a low counting rate and functions the projectile warhead when decremented to zero.

Settable electronic fuzing system for cannon ammunition

This invention provides a safing and arming mechanism for a fuze for a spinning projectile including a ball rotor journaled for rotation within a cavity in the fuze. A firing pin, said cavity and a booster charge lie along the longitudinal axis of the fuze. The rotor carries a stab sensitive detonator in its diametral bore. A first spring mounted on a first seat cut into the ball normally fixes the ball with the detonator, out of alignment with the longitudinal axis of the fuze. A second spring mounted on a second seat cut into the ball also fixes the ball out of alignment. To release the ball, the first spring must be shifted aftwardly by setback force to a third seat cut into the ball, and the second spring must be enlarged by centrifugal force and removed from said second seat.

Arming delay, dual environment safe, fuze

A launchable a fin-stabilized round having an HE warhead that is fully telescoped in a cartridge case. The round has a forward, cone-shaped nose section, a base section with a booster cavity and a high-explosive (HE) cavity located therebetween. An HE charge is positioned in the HE cavity and a booster charge is positioned in the booster cavity. A time fuze, mounted in the booster cavity, has a presettable counter that is set by the gunner at firing via a hardwire data link through an electric primer. The tiem fuze will fire the booster charge a predetermined time period after the round is launched to enable a normally disabled proximity fuze that is mounted in the nose section. The proximity fuze will detonate the HE charge upon detection of a proximate target. Also mounted in the nose section is a contact switch for detonating the HE charge upon impact with a hard target.

Multi-option fuze system

A base mounted remote set digital time fuze permits a chambered round to e power, time setting information and cartridge case firing voltage available at an electric primer terminal of the cartridge case. Fuze power, time setting information and cartridge firing are performed sequentially over the same hardwire line.

Electric fuze with selectable modes

A proximity fuzing system includes a passive proximity detection section including an electrostatic probe for detecting initial missile entry into the electric field inherently associated with an airborne target. Probe signals are processed to determine that the intercepted electric field is characteristic of a valid target, and, if so, an active proximity detection section, such as a radar proximity detector, is rendered operational to trigger a warhead detonator at the optimum point in the missile's engaging trajectory to inflict maximum possible damage on the target.

Electric field enabled proximity fuzing system

A proximity fuzing system for missile warhead utilizes an electrostatic probe to detect the electric field inherently associated with an airborne target. The probe plates are oriented perpendicular to the missile longitudinal axis and are short circuit loaded to develop a probe current signal whose initial slope is analyzed to qualify the target being engaged on a near-miss trajectory as a valid target and whose first zero current crossing is utilized as a trigger point for detonating the missile warhead before the missiles reaches a position of minimum miss-distance relative to the target.

Electrostatic passive proximity fuzing system

This invention provides the provision of a machine gun having a pair of gun barrels fixed to the receiver with a pair of operating mechanism driven by a rocking lever and each operating mechanism including a reciprocating slider which drives a reciprocating gun bolt assembly and a forward stripper which also serves to lock the gun bolt assembly.

Machine gun

This invention provides a subcaliber projectile which is launched from a full bore projectile having a shaped charge warhead prior to impact with the target. The subcaliber projectile is tethered to the full bore projectile by means of a fine electrical cable of fixed length which serves as the communication link between the two projectiles with the length of the cable determining the fuzing standoff distance. The ballistic coefficient of the subcaliber projectile is made such that the subcaliber projectile always flies ahead of the full bore projectile.

Shaped charge projectile system

A feature of this invention is the provision of a forward, armor piercing, high explosive charge and an aft anti-personnel high explosive charge in a shrapnel providing casing, both charges being functioned by a single, deceleration sensitive, detonator assembly.

Explosive projectile

A feature of this invention is the provision of detonator assembly comprising a pair of face to face opposed, longitudinally aligned and spaced apart detonators, and an initiator disposed therebetween.

Detonator assembly

A feature of this invention is the provision of a fuze having a plate which serves both as a full frontal area impact switch and an electrostatic sensor to provide detonation signals.

Electrical fuze with a plurality of modes of operation

The provision of a delayed arming fuze utilizing a ball rotor, and a firing pin which is captured to the ball rotor by an unwinding ribbon, and which pin precludes the rotor from swinging into alignment for arming until the ribbon has unwound under the sequential presence of setback and spin forces.
