Isotropic non-aqueous electrode sensing material

An electrically conductive composite is disclosed that includes a dielectric material having a first side and a second side, conductive particles within the dielectric material layer, and a discontinuous layer of a conductive material on a first side of the dielectric layer. The conductive particles are aligned to form a plurality of conductive paths from the first side to the second side of the dielectric material, and each of the conductive paths is formed of at least a plurality of conductive particles. The discontinuous layer includes a plurality of non-mutually connected portions that cover portions of, but not all of, the first side of the dielectric material such that exposed portions of the underlying first side of the dielectric material remain exposed through the discontinuous layer, yet the discontinuous layer facilitates the electronic coupling together of a plurality of the conductive paths from the first side to the second side of the dielectric material.

Systems and methods for providing surface connectivity of oriented conductive channels

A method of forming an electrically conductive composite is disclosed that includes the steps of providing a first dielectric material and a second conductive material that is substantially dispersed within the first dielectric material; and applying an electric field through at least a portion of the combined first dielectric material and second conductive material such that the second conductive material undergoes electrophoresis and forms at least one electrically conductive path through the electrically conductive composite along the direction of the applied electric field.

An alternating electric field responsive biomedical composite is disclosed that provides capacitive coupling through the composite. The biomedical composite includes a binder material, a polar material that is substantially dispersed within the binder material, and electrically conductive particles within the binder material. The polar material is responsive to the presence of an alternating electric field, and the electrically conductive particles are not of sufficient concentration to form a conductive network through the composite unless and until the composite becomes overcharged.

Systems and methods for providing overcharge protection in capacitive coupled biomedical electrodes

An environmentally safe additive and vehicle system are provided for water-based and oil-based printing inks, paints, coatings and adhesives which can be rapidly transferred, dispersed, dispensed, spread, dried and cured. The low cost, stable additive and vehicle system enhance multiple color, high speed printing with sharp, highly defined images and superior quality, and can be used on many different types of substrates, such as paper, paperboard, cardboard, clay coated board, foil, plastic, glass, metal, wood and composites. The additive may be formed by the reaction product of a photoinitiator, such as an UV-activated polyelectrolyte, and a monomer, such as an acrylate or a methacrylate in an aqueous solution. In other embodiments, the additive is formed from a carboxylic acid or anhydride and alkylalkanolamine monomer or a dialkylaminoalkyl acrylate or methacrylate monomer in an aqueous solution.

Additive and vehicle for inks, paints, coatings and adhesives

A system and method are disclosed for applying a corrosion inhibiting material to an article. The method includes the steps of depositing a layer of corrosion inhibiting material onto a carrier film, applying the corrosion inhibiting material to the article, and separating the carrier film from the at least a portion of the corrosion inhibiting material. In a preferred embodiment, the corrosion inhibiting material is applied to rotors of disc brakes in new automotive vehicles.

Method and system for inhibiting corrosion involving the transfer of thin films

A multilayer composite for applying printed graphics to a receptive substrate, comprising: a carrier sheet; a transparent breakcoat having an upper surface releasably bonded to the carrier sheet, and a lower print receptive surface on which graphics are permanently printed; and a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive having an upper surface permanently adhered to the thus printed graphics, and a lower surface releasably adhered to a protective liner. The protective liner is separable from the adhesive without disrupting the bond between the carrier sheet and the breakcoat, and the adhesive, and the adhesive is removably bondable to the substrate during a wet out period, after which the carrier sheet is separable from the breakcoat, allowing the breakcoat/graphics/adhesive residue to remain firmly bonded to the substrate.

Multilayer composite for the dry transfer of graphics to receptive substrates

A tamper resistant label having a film to which non-adherent and visible indicia are applied. The film, with the non-adherent visible indicia is thereafter corona treated, and a layer of the same material or a material with the same index of refraction as the non-adherent visible indicia is applied, overlying the film. In this arrangement, any removal of the film does not affect the visible indicia, but the region in the vicinity of the visible indicia is destroyed. The non-adherent visible indicia may take the form of any predetermined pattern such as the term void to indicate to a viewer that the overlying protective film has been removed.

Tamper resistant labeling

A tamper resistant label having two layers. The first layer is a patterned layer in direct or indirect contact with an adhesive layer and the second layer is a protective film with visible indicia applied over the patterned layer. A portion of the protective layer with visible indicia has no adhesion to the patterned layer which allows the protective film to readily separate from and destruct portions of the patterned layer when the film is removed.
