A system receives notification that a console has registered to receive a type of managed object event. The system receives a plurality of managed object events from a cache manager. Each managed object event is associated with a managed object. The system parses the plurality of managed object events to determine the type of managed object event for each of the plurality of managed object events, and distributes the plurality of managed object events to the console. The plurality of managed object events are distributed based on the type of managed object event associated with each managed object event within the plurality of managed objects events, and the type of managed object event the console has previously registered to receive.

Methods and apparatus providing payload event processing for managed objects

A method, system, and program product for reserving resources in a networked environment, e.g. a storage area network. A resource is some object that a user must use or change to complete a task. When a user plans a task, the user selects some high-level resources and properties to reserve and a Reservation Service embodiment creates reservations for them. Accordingly, the method system and program product embodiments overcome inefficiencies in reserving resources in a data storage environment while still allowing such reservations to occur. The method includes reserving portions of properties for resources from more than one available choice.

A method, system, and program product for reserving resources in a networked environment, e.g. a storage area network. A resource is some object that a user must use or change to complete a task. Method for reserving resources in a storage area network with selective capabilities

Methods and apparatus for removing data from a cache are disclosed. The data may be one or more objects that are stored in a first cache. Each object stored in the first cache has an associated reference that is stored in a second cache. Each such reference has an associated timer. As a program accesses an object stored in the first cache, the timer associated with its reference is reset. A harvester process parses through the second cache over a period of time, locking a section of the second cache and determining if any timers associated with references therein have timed out. The harvester process removes any such timed-out timers from the second cache. A garbage collection process parses through the first cache, removing any objects therein that do not have an associated reference in the second cache.

Methods and apparatus for removing data from a cache

A computer process initiates a pre-analysis of managed objects and corresponding structures for storing object data in a relational database. The pre-analysis yields a set of operational instructions (e.g., a 'stored' database procedure) that can be applied at run time to more efficiently initiate a modification to objects and corresponding object data stored in a relational database. After execution of a stored procedure to modify contents of an object and respective contents in a relational database, a synchronizer utilizes an identifier to access a log that stores changes associated with a managed object to which the stored procedure was applied. Based on contents of the log, the synchronizer identifies changes to one or more managed objects and identifies corresponding processes that rely on use of the affected managed objects. The synchronizer then notifies corresponding processes utilizing the affected managed objects of the changes to the relational database and/or managed objects.
