An organ perfusion apparatus and method monitor, sustain and/or restore viability of organs and preserve organs for storage and/or transport. Other apparatus include an organ transporter, an organ cassette and an organ diagnostic device. In perfusion, organ perfusion pressure is preferably controlled in response to a sensor disposed in an end of tubing placed in the organ, by a pneumatically pressurized medical fluid reservoir, providing perfusion pressure fine tuning, overpressurization prevention and emergency flow cut-off. In the hypothermic mode, the organ is perfused with a medical fluid, preferably a simple crystalloid solution containing antioxidants, intermittently or in slow continuous flow. The medical fluid may be fed into the organ from an intermediary tank having a low pressure head to avoid organ overpressurization. Viability of the organ may be automatically monitored, preferably by monitoring characteristics of the medical fluid perfusate. The perfusion process can be automatically controlled using a control program.

Apparatus and method for maintaining and/or restoring viability of organs

An organ perfusion apparatus and method monitor, sustain and/or restore viability of organs and preserve organs for storage and/or transport. Other apparatus include an organ transporter, an organ cassette and an organ diagnostic device. The method includes perfusing the organ at hypothermic and/or normothermic temperatures, preferably after hypothermic organ flushing for organ transport and/or storage. The method can be practiced with prior or subsequent static or perfusion hypothermic exposure of the organ. Organ viability is restored by restoring high energy nucleotide (e.g., ATP) levels by perfusing the organ with a medical fluid, such as an oxygenated cross-linked hemoglobin-based bicarbonate medical fluid, at normothermic temperatures. In perfusion, organ perfusion pressure is preferably controlled in response to a sensor disposed in an end of tubing placed in the organ, by a pneumatically pressurized medical fluid reservoir, providing perfusion pressure fine tuning, overpressurization prevention and emergency flow cut-off. A bucket tackle system for organizing, transporting and storing of fishing rods and reels is provided which includes a bucket, a fishing rod and reel holder insert assembly, and a cover. The bucket has a closed bottom base and a cylindrical side wall extending upwardly from the closed bottom base and terminating in an open end. The holder insert assembly includes a flat disc portion, a plurality of end cap members fixedly secured to the disc portion, and a plurality of hollow tubular members having a first end and a second end. The first end of each of the plurality of tubular members is fixedly secured to a corresponding one of the plurality of end cap members so as to be vertically extending therefrom. The second end of each of the plurality of tubular members is formed with opposed first and second slots adapted for holding handle portions of the fishing rods and reels. The cover has a plurality of openings which are aligned with the first ends of the plurality of tubular members so that the cover is slidable down over the tubular members and is engageable with the open end of the bucket. As a result, the handle portions of the fishing rods and reels are insertable into corresponding ones of the plurality of tubular members and are supported and maintained in a vertical position adjacent to each other, thereby preventing them from being damaged and/or destroyed.

A system for monitoring body functions from patients at remote locations that includes an event monitor attached to the patient including sensors attached to relevant parts of the patient for monitoring body functions. The system also includes a central monitoring station including a server having a memory attached thereto; and, a communication link between the event monitor and the central monitoring station. The method of this invention includes the steps of sensing the monitored body function by means of sensors attached to the patient. If any irregularities are detected, data indicative of the monitored body function is recorded and is automatically transmitted to the central monitoring station. The patient is located by means of GPS data; and a physician and the nearest hospital are notified. An attending physician may log onto the central monitoring station and observe real-time data received from the patient. Commands may be relayed to a medication dispensing device to aid in the immediate treatment of the patient.

A self-propelled mobile cradle for boats including a frame having transversely spaced, longitudinally extending side members interconnected at their forward ends to form an opening extending inwardly from the rear end of the frame. Forward driven wheels are used in a caster-like arrangement for supporting the forward end of the frame. Rear wheel are disposed at the rear of the frame for support. The rear wheels comprises at least two wheels each independently operable from the other, one of the wheels being disposed on each side of the frame. Hydraulically operated cylinders are used for raising or lowering the frame relative to the rear wheels. The rear wheels are disposed on independently operable suspension for each of the rear wheels, whereby one side of the frame can be raised or lowered relative to the other side of the frame. A forward driving mechanism is used for raising or lowering the foward end of the frame relative to the wheels. The wheels are turnable by a steering device which turns the forward wheels about an axis generally normal to the longitudinally extending side members, whereby the cradle can be turned by turning the forward wheels. The forward wheels are driven by the same power supply that powers the forward and rear lifting devices. Pads and extendable arms are attached to and disposed on each side of the longitudinally extending side members to engage the bottom of a boat and hold it stationary relative to the cradle.
