Disclosed is a polyamide-ionomer composition suitable for use in a backsheet in a photovoltaic module comprising a polymer component a polyamide and an anhydride ionomer comprising a copolymer of ethylene, an alpha, beta-unsaturated C-Ccarboxylic acid and an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or derivative thereof selected from the group consisting of maleic acid, fumaric acid, itaconic acid, maleic anhydride, and a C-Calkyl half ester of maleic acid, wherein the carboxylic acid functionalities present are at least partially neutralized to carboxylate salts of one or more alkali metal, transition metal, or alkaline earth metal cations; 0 to 20 weight % of pigment; and 0 to 40 weight % of filler; preferably wherein the combination of pigment and filler comprises 10 to 50 weight % of the composition; and 0 to 5 weight % of weatherability additives.

Disclosed is a selectively permeable protective structure, a method for providing personal protection from exposure to harmful chemical and biological agents using an article that provides a barrier to such agents and a method for limiting damage to the article due to corrosion or mold growth, comprising wrapping or covering the article in the selectively permeable protective structure. The selectively permeable structure comprises a membrane comprising a copolymer comprising copolymerized units of ethylene and copolymerized units of a comonomer providing an amine-reactive site combined with a short chain polymer having from about 5 to 50 repeat units and containing one primary amine active amine site, having a moisture vapor permeation value of at least 200 g-mil/m/24 h and barrier to liquid water, and optionally a supporting substrate.

Selectively permeable ethylene copolymer compositions

Disclosed is a vapor permeable composition comprising a copolymer comprising copolymerized units of ethylene and copolymerized units of a comonomer providing an amine-reactive site; a short chain polymer having one primary amine active amine site, and comprising propylene oxide, ethylene oxide, or mixture thereof. The composition is useful as a vapor barrier for moisture control of buildings. Also disclosed are articles comprising the vapor permeable composition and methods of their use.

Films and laminate structures comprising these compositions have excellent gas (e.g. oxygen, water vapor, etc.) absorption and transmission and antifogging properties.

Disclosed is a shaped article comprising a composition comprising polyamide and ionomer wherein the ionomer comprises a mixture of Zn and alkali metal (M2) cations wherein the Zn/M2 equivalent ratio is from about 0.6 to about 6. The articles prepared from the compositions with mixed ion ionomers exhibit high stiffness, hardness and toughness, good scratch resistance, desirable low melt viscosity and high processability.

A composition that can be used as foam composition is disclosed, which comprises or is produced from an ethylene acrylate dipolymer, an acid copolymer, and optionally a soft ethylene polymer. The ethylene acrylate dipolymer comprises repeat units derived from ethylene and at least one alkylacrylate.
