A card connector () includes an insulating housing () defining a card receiving space; a set of first contacts () supported by the insulative housing and adapted for mating with XD card, and the first contacts having at least one grounding contact (G); a set of second contacts () supported by the insulative housing and adapted for mating with SD card, the second contacts having at least one grounding contact (G); a set of third contacts () supported by the insulative housing and adapted for mating with MS card, the third contacts having at least one grounding contact (G); and at least two of the grounding contacts commonly grounded.

Compact multi-function card connector

An audio jack includes an insulative housing and a number of contacts retained therein. The insulative housing defines a receiving space for receiving a corresponding plug and a number of mounting holes extending inwardly from a mounting wall thereof. Each contact has a tail portion for connecting with a circuit board. A core pin is inserted into the receiving space and a plenty of elastomeric material is flowed into the mounting holes around the contacts to make the insulative housing being sealed except the receiving space. After the elastomeric material has solidified the core pin is withdrawn.

Waterproof audio jack and method of making the same

A modular jack () includes a housing (), a number of RJ contacts () received in the housing (), and a rotatable spacer () positioning the RJ contacts (). The housing () defines a first mating cavity () for receiving an electrical plug () for establishing electrical connection therebetween. Hybrid modular jack

A mezzanine connector for connecting first and second circuit boards includes a number of wafers side-by-side arranged with each other and an organizer for unifying the wafers. Each wafer includes an insulative housing, a number of contacts fixed in the insulative housing and a shielding plate assembled to a first side of the insulative housing in order to shield the contacts of the adjacent wafers. Each contact includes a retaining portion fixed in the insulative housing, a first tail extending from a first end of the retaining portion for being mounted to the first circuit board, and a second tail extending from a second end of the retaining portion for being mounted to the second circuit board.

An electrical connector assembly includes a header connector and a mateable receptacle connector. The header connector includes a number of header contacts each including a contacting section. The receptacle connector includes a mating face and a number of receptacle contacts extending beyond the mating face. The receptacle contacts include a first contact part having a connecting portion, a first arm extending from a front end of the connecting portion along a first direction and a second arm extending from a rear end of the connecting portion along a second direction opposite to the first direction. The first and the second arms are aligned with each other and are configured to engage a common side of the contacting section in the header connector.

High density backplane connector having improved terminal arrangement

An electrical connector assembly is provided having a header connector and a receptacle connector matable with one another. An array of signal contacts are secured to the header connector and arranged in differential contact pairs. The differential contact pairs are configured to carry differential signal pairs. An array of L-shaped ground shields are secured to the header connector. Optionally, a second side may be added to the L-shape to form a C-shaped ground shield. Each ground shield is arranged to partially surround and isolate a corresponding differential contact pair from adjacent differential contact pairs. The receptacle contact includes a mating face having an array of contact receiving holes and ground shield receiving notches. The contact receiving holes are arranged in differential hole pairs corresponding to, and matable with, the differential contact pairs. The ground shield receiving notches are configured to be matable with the ground shields. The signal contacts in each differential contact pair are spaced apart by a contact-to-contact distance. Adjacent differential contact pairs are spaced apart by a contact pair-to-pair distance that is greater than the contact-to-contact distance. The L-shaped ground shields and contact spacing cooperate to more closely electromagnetically couple signal contacts in a differential contact pair to one another than to signal contacts in adjacent differential contact pairs.

A connector assembly is provided having a receptacle connector mateable with a header connector. The assembly includes an insulated housing and a plurality of terminal modules mounted to the insulated housing. The terminal modules have an insulated molded body enclosing multiple connector contacts having opposed mating portions. The terminal module further includes receptacle contacts and leads connected thereto for carrying signals through the terminal module. A differential shell is mounted to the terminal module and has an open sided chamber formed therein. The differential shell includes walls that define the chamber and receive the receptacle contacts. Each chamber includes an open front and open rear ends and includes at least one open side. Each chamber accepts a corresponding receptacle contact through the open side thereof. The walls of the differential shells have non-linear contours that substantially conform to a contour of the receptacle contacts to reduce the air gap therebetween and reduce the impedance of the terminal contact, thereby improving signal performance.

A connector assembly is provided having a receptacle connector mateable with a header connector. The assembly includes an insulated housing and a plurality of terminal modules mounted to the insulated housing. The terminal modules have an insulated molded body enclosing multiple connector contacts having opposed mating portions. Each terminal module includes a contact formed into at least one differential pair. The connector assembly further includes conductive ground shields mounted to and located between the terminal modules. Each ground shield includes at least one ground contact pair located proximate at least one differential pair of connector contacts. The ground contact pair includes a primary ground contact and a secondary ground contact extending different distances from the body of the ground shield to electrically engage a corresponding header ground shield at two points along the length of the header ground shield to inhibit the header ground shield from operating as a radiating antenna.

Antenna assembly

A multi-directional electrical connector (20) includes an insulated housing (22) having an electrical contact (60) disposed in a first cavity portion (38) of a contact receiving cavity (36). A contact portion (70) of the contact (60) extends into a second cavity portion (50) of the cavity to engage a mating contact received in the second cavity portion (50). The contact (60) includes a body (62) having a pair of contact portions (70) extending into two separate blade-receiving sections (52) of the second cavity portion (50). Each of the contact portions (70) may be mated with a mating contact inserted into the blade-receiving sections (52) from two adjacent faces of the housing (22).

Electrical connector

A connector (24) is disclosed for electrically interconnecting a component (14) to circuitry within a cabinet (10), where the component is arranged to slide in and out of a bay (12) in the cabinet (10). The connector (24) is attached to the component (14) and includes an insulated housing (40) having a plurality of electrical contacts (60) arranged therein. The contacts (60) are adapted for mating along a first mating axis (23) of the connector with respective ones of other electrical contacts (100) in a mating connector (26) attached to the cabinet (10). The contacts (60) of the connector (24) are further adapted for mating along a second mating axis (74), that forms a right angle to the first mating axis (23), with respective ones of individual contacts (158) attached to individual wires (156) that are secured to the cabinet (10).

Electrical connector having dual directional mating

An electrical connector generally comprising a housing, a terminal member and a clamping member. The housing has a first open end, a generally closed second end including a conductor passage, and an internal cavity extending between the ends. The terminal member has a first end which includes an IDC mating contact, a second end which includes a planar electrical contact, and a middle portion extending therebetween. The terminal member is positioned in the housing with the first end adjacent the first housing open end and the middle portion extending through the housing cavity. The second end is positioned within the clamping means conductor receiving area. A conductor is connected to the second end of the terminal member by passing it through the conductor passage into the conductor receiving area and actuating the clamping member which moves the planar electrical contact into contact with the conductor.

The electrical connector (24) of the present invention includes a coupling (26, 26') for attaching the connector (24) to an equipment cabinet (10) that will permit a certain amount of movement of the connector along the mating axis (64) after mating with a mating connector (32). The coupling (26, 26') includes U-shaped channels (68) attached to the cabinet that receive rollers (88) attached to the connector. The rollers have a V-shaped groove (98) that receives a circular portion (112) of a spring (108) for holding the connector (24) in position during mating but will expand allowing the mated connector pair (24, 32) to move along the mating axis (64) after mating.

Traveling electrical connector

A circuit board mountable shielded data link electrical connector (2) comprises a generally rectangular insulating housing (4) and a metal shield (6). The shield (6) covers the upper side wall (14), opposite end walls (18), mating end (10) and the part of the lower side wall (16), of the housing (4). The upper side wall (54) of the shield (6) has an extension in the form of a rear wall flap (62) which can be bent down about notches (66) to cover the rearward wall (12) of the housing (4) when the housing (4) has been inserted into the shield (6), and secured in position by means of rearwardly projecting flanges (76) on the opposite end walls (56) of the shield (6). There project from opposite edges (68) of the upper side wall (54) of the shield (6) cantilever spring arms (82) having contact surfaces (92) proximate to the front wall (58) of the shield (6) for resiliently engaging a panel (P) when front wall (58) of the shield (6) is inserted through a hole (H) in the panel, so that the shield is grounded to the panel (P) which is of metal.
