An apparatus for the activation of a remote device having a transmitter to generate and transmit user-set special coded signals. The transmitter has a function selector switch to select modes of operation for the transmitter. Included is also a receiver to receive the user-set special coded signals, and the receiver also has a function selector switch to select modes of operation for the receiver. The function selector switch selects the following modes of operation for the transmitter: (a) a &ldquo;transmit/fire&rdquo; mode that enables a fire signal to be transmitted to the receiver; (b) a &ldquo;wake-up&rdquo; mode that enables a set-up receiver mode for immediate firing; (c) a program mode for low power transmission of programmed codes; and (d) a &ldquo;test&rdquo; and operational mode that enables an operational test of the apparatus with no firing output. The function selector switch on the receiver selects the following modes of operation for the receiver: (a) receive a &ldquo;wake-up&rdquo; of &ldquo;fire&rdquo; signal; (b) actuate either an electrical excitation output or an electromechanical solenoid output; (c) provide a continuity test for a blasting cap; (d) program the receiver for receiving programmed codes; and (e) conduct operational tests of the receiver.

Apparatus for remote activation of equipment and demolition charges

A backup mechanism for a fuze includes a plate having a slot therein which is freed up during the arming of the firing pin screw. A weight link having a pair of legs spaced along the slot is mounted for movement in the slot. A trip link is pivotally mounted to the plate and has a first leg for frictional engagement against the side of the first weight link leg. The second leg of the trip link is biased for rotation by a leaf spring. Another leaf spring engages against the second leg of the weight link for urging it in a movement direction along the slot. Friction between the first legs of the trip and weight links and/or the upward pull force of the ribbon hold the weight link in an initial position after fuze arming. When exposed to inertia, and/or the absence of upward ribbon pull force the weight link moves. This causes disengagement between its first leg and the first leg of the trip link. The spring rotates the strip link so that its first leg now pushes the weight link along the slot. The further leaf spring engaged against the second link of the weight link also pushes the weight link along the slot. A pin connected to the weight link is engaged with the weight of a standard fuze to enhance the pushing force on the weight.

Enhanced point detonation backup mechanism for fuze

A graze sensitive and self destruct fuze arrangement for a point detonating pin stabilized projectile in which assured detonation is achieved by nose or point impact with a target, by graze impact with a target, or by self destruction capability upon failure to strike a target in either of the foregoing ways.
