A modified tubular, particularly a drill pipe () has a composite non-rotating drill pipe protector assembly () including first and second composite collars () provided as cooperating parts positionable around the drill pipe () and bondable thereto using bonding agent, a non-rotating composite protector shell (), provided as cooperating shell parts and an internal polymeric radial bearing () which fits within a recess () within the non-rotating composite protector shell () and has an internal surface () configured to provide a plurality of internal fluid flow channels (). An external surface of the non-rotating composite protector shell () has blades (), spaced apart by fluid flow by-pass channels (). In use the rotation of the drill pipe facilitates fluid movement within the non-rotating composite protector shell by creating a pumping effect inducing ingress of fluid and through-flow within the internal polymeric radial bearing ().

Modified tubular

An expansion chamber for use on a tubular includes a shell that is configured to be attached to the tubular by a bonding material, the shell having a port configured to receive the bonding material therethrough and into a cavity of the shell. The expansion chamber also includes a tube unit configured to be placed in the cavity of the shell, the tube unit having a tube with a port that is in fluid communication with the port of the shell.

A downhole tool includes a sleeve configured to be disposed around a tubular. An expandable sealing member is coupled to and positioned at least partially around the sleeve. An end ring is coupled to and positioned at least partially around the sleeve and axially-adjacent to the expandable sealing member.

Integrally-bonded swell packer

A spring lock system for use in attaching a wellbore component to a tubular includes a tubular spring body having a plurality of profiles along an axial length thereof. The tubular spring body is configured to move between an unclamped position and a clamped position. The spring lock system further includes a locking and activation pin disposed between the profiles of the tubular spring body. The locking and activation pin is rotatable relative to the tubular spring body to move the tubular spring body from the unclamped position to the clamped position.

Radial spring lock system for collars, sleeves and centralizers

A composite material centralizer () for a tubular () is formed from a shell () of elongate shape with a curved upper surface () and a longitudinal slot () formed centrally in the curved upper surface () of the shell (). At least one port () for injection of a bonding agent into the cavity () is provided in the curved upper (surface () of the shell (). Fluid vent holes () are provided in the curved upper surface () of the shell () adjacent to either end of the longitudinal slot () in the curved upper surface () of shell (). An elongate resilient member () with an outwardly projecting bow spring surface () may be retained within the longitudinal slot () in the shell () by insertion of ends () in respective recesses (').

Centraliser

An oil field tubular has a composite material housing within which is located one or more wireless communication devices with a charge storage device for powering the communication device(s). In a disclosed method of installing a wireless communication device upon an oilfield tubular, a prefabricated composite shell formed with an inner skin and outer skin forming an inner space for containing the wireless communication device is applied to a surface of the tubular so as to form a cavity between the surface of the tubular and the prefabricated composite shell, a bonding material is introduced to the cavity and bonding material is cured.

A centralizer, method, and centralizer assembly. For example, the centralizer assembly includes a first stop collar fixed in place on a tubular, and a first end collar that is sized to slide axially over the first stop collar. The centralizer assembly also includes a first retainer coupled with the first end collar. The first retainer prevents the first stop collar from sliding past the first stop collar in at least one axial direction. The assembly also includes a plurality of ribs coupled with the first end collar and configured to engage a surrounding tubular in which the tubular is disposed.

A positioning member for a tubular is formed using a prefabricated fiber-reinforced resin shell positioned upon a surface of the tubular and bonded to provide a protrusion upon the surface of the tubular. In a disclosed method a fiber-reinforced resin shell is secured to an external surface of a tubular thereby enclosing a cavity between the shell and the surface of the tubular; a bonding agent is introduced through inlet ports in a surface of the fiber-reinforced resin shell to fill a cavity between the shell and the surface of the tubular (), and the bonding agent is cured.

A positioning member () for a tubular () is formed using a prefabricated fiber-reinforced resin shell () positioned upon a surface of the tubular and bonded to provide a protrusion upon the surface of the tubular. In a disclosed method a fiber-reinforced resin shell () is secured to an external surface of a tubular () thereby enclosing a cavity between the shell () and the surface of the tubular (); a bonding agent is introduced through inlet ports () in a surface of the fiber-reinforced resin shell () to fill a cavity between the shell () and the surface of the tubular (), and the bonding agent is cured.
