An apparatus for distributing a fluid in a gas flow path inside a turbomachine, comprising: a device for introducing the fluid into the gas flow path; and wherein the device is positioned within the gas flow path. A method for installing an apparatus that will distribute a fluid in a gas flow path inside a turbomachine, the method comprising: machining a casing groove along an inner surface of a casing; machining at least one port into the casing that is in fluid communication with the casing groove; machining an internal cavity in at least one stator blade that is in fluid communication with the casing groove; machining at least one orifice, that is in fluid communication with the internal cavity, on an orifice surface of the stator blade; and coupling a fluid supply to the at least one port.

Method and apparatus for distributing fluid into a turbomachine

The mister includes a plurality of manifolds extending between opposite sides of a duct. Each manifold carries a plurality of nozzles at laterally spaced positions along the length of the manifold. The manifolds are spaced one behind the other in the direction of air flow in the duct and the pipes connecting the nozzles of the intermediate and upstream manifolds bypass the downstream manifolds to provide the nozzles in a common plane perpendicular to the direction of air flow in the duct. This arrangement affords a uniformity of spray and, hence, a uniformity of humidified air to the inlet of the compressor.

A water-injection control system is disclosed for a water supersaturation system installed in a gas turbine air intake system for augmenting gas turbine power output during operation at high ambient-air temperature, while maintaining the water content in the intake air within limits acceptable to the gas turbine as indicated by measured gas turbine operating parameters. The control system starts, stops, modulates, and limits water supplied to the supersaturating system based on the humidity or dew-point temperature of the ambient air, dry-bulb temperature of the ambient air, compressor inlet air flow, and gas turbine parameters indicating operation at or near maximum output.

Control system for gas turbine inlet-air water-saturation and supersaturation system

A combined water-wash and wet-compression system for a gas turbine includes a compressor having an inlet defining a flow direction; and a plurality of manifolds arranged in proximity to the inlet and arranged transversely of the flow direction; a plurality of dual-function nozzles connected to the manifolds. Each dual-function nozzle is adapted to supply, selectively, either relatively small droplets for introduction into the compressor for intercooling, or relatively large droplets for impingement on components of the compressor for cleaning the components. A method of introducing a liquid into a compressor inlet for providing water wash for cleaning components of the compressor, and for providing wet compression for intercooling is also disclosed.

Combined water-wash and wet-compression system for a gas turbine compressor and related method

A water droplet mist is sprayed into the air upstream of the gas-turbine compressor inlet to increase power output from the gas turbine. The water has the effect of lowering dry-bulb temperature of the air entering the compressor inlet. To supply an amount of water appropriate for anticipated ambient conditions, a plurality of different capacity pumps are provided to supply water over a wide range of water flow rates. The control system for the pumps avoids the use of a set-point temperature for the inlet air obtained from measurements taken downstream of water injection. The operator inputs a desired relative humidity of air entering the compressor, and the control system determines the appropriate flow rate of water using the following measurements: flow rate of dry air to the compressor; flow rate of inlet water; dew point temperature of the inlet air; dry-bulb temperature of the inlet air; and temperature of the inlet water.
