A system includes a first electric motor that when in operation imparts rotation to a fan stage of an engine. The system also includes a combustion section of the engine comprising a combustor that when in operation generates combustion gas through ignition of fuel and compressed air. The system further includes a turbine of the engine coupled to a shaft of the engine, wherein the turbine when in operation receives the combustion gas from the combustion section and imparts rotation to the shaft using the combustion gas.

Hybrid propulsion system including electric motor with fan shroud encircling integrated fan blades

A device includes a first rotor segment and a second rotor segment, wherein the first rotor segment and the second rotor segment are configured to be directly coupled together about a shaft to form at least a portion of a unitary rotor. The device also includes a first stator segment and a second stator segment, wherein the first stator segment and the second stator segment are configured to be directly coupled together to form at least a portion of a unitary stator.

Split electric machine for retrofit hybrid propulsion systems

An electric propulsion system for an aircraft includes a nacelle and an electric machine. The electric machine includes a stator positioned in the nacelle, and a rotor and fan assembly positioned in a primary flow path through the nacelle. The rotor and fan assembly includes a cylindrical fan shroud, a plurality of rotor magnets positioned on an outer surface of the fan shroud, and a fan hub mounted on a central support shaft via one or more bearings. A plurality of fan blades extend between an inner surface of the fan shroud and an outer surface of the fan hub. The rotor magnets may be loaded in compression in a radial direction when the rotor and fan assembly is at rest. The fan blades may be pre-stressed in a radial direction when the rotor and fan assembly is at rest.

Electric aircraft propulsion system

A system, includes a movable platform slidingly coupled to one or more supports and configured to be selectively moved towards a drill floor and away from the drill floor. The system also includes a roughneck disposed on the movable platform and configured to make up or break out a threaded joint between a first tubular segment and a second tubular segment. The system additionally includes a support member disposed on the movable platform and configured to support one of the first tubular segment or the second tubular segment as the movable platform is selectively moved towards a drill floor or away from the drill floor.

Techniques and systems to provide automatic positioning of a tripping apparatus. A system may include a sensor configured to detect a physical characteristic of a tubular string moving past the sensor and generate a signal indicative of the physical characteristic. The system may also include a processing device configured to process the signal indicative of the physical characteristic, determine whether the processed signal is indicative of a deviation of the tubular string, and generate output data utilized to automatically position a tripping apparatus at a location of the deviation on the tubular string.

Joint recognition system

A system, including one or more supports disposed on a drill floor. The system also includes a movable support slidingly coupled to the one or more supports and configured to be selectively moved towards the drill floor during a tripping-in operation as part of a continuous tripping operation and away from the drill floor during a tripping-in operation as part of a continuous tripping operation, and a tripping apparatus coupled to the movable support and configured to make up or break out a threaded joint between a first tubular segment and a second tubular segment, wherein the tripping apparatus is configured to be selectively movable from a first position disposed proximate to the one or more supports and a second position at a distance away from the one or more supports to make up the threaded joint when the tripping apparatus is disposed in the second position during the tripping-in operation or to break out the threaded joint when the tripping apparatus is disposed in the second position during the tripping-out operation.

Techniques and systems to reduce deflection of a riser extending from offshore platform. The riser may be coupled to a seafloor and may experience movements due to, for example, currents. A riser restraint device may be utilized to reduce these movements of the riser. This riser restraint device may be coupled to the seafloor. This coupling of the riser restraint device may aid in allowing the riser restraint device to reduce movement of the riser and, thus, reduce deflection of the riser.

Riser deflection mitigation

Techniques and systems to reduce deflection of a riser extending from an offshore platform. The riser may include a flow guide. The flow guide may receive a fluid. The flow guide may also include one or more outlets that are configured to transmit the fluid. This transmission of the fluid by the one or more outlets may counteract currents or other factors to mitigate deflection in the riser.

Techniques and systems to reduce deflection of a riser extending from offshore platform. A riser may include an outer enclosure. This outer enclosure may be coupled to a current deflector. The current deflector is configured to generate a lift on the riser in response to a fluid flowing across the current deflector. This lift that is generated by the current deflector may counteract currents or other factors to mitigate deflection in the riser.

Techniques and methods to reduce downtime in an offshore platform, such as an offshore semi-submersible drilling rig or drillship. Through the use of one or more movable platforms in a moon pool area, work on a riser string passing through the moon pool area may be performed without exposing workers directly to the open sea below. Accordingly, the use of the one or more movable platforms in the moon pool area may provide protected access to the riser string during, for example, harsh weather conditions.

Self positioning floating platform and method of use

A cantilever system for a rig comprising a hull, a beam coupled to the hull, an extension member coupled to the beam, and a hold-down member spaced from a support member and coupled to the extension member. A first end of the beam is extendable over an edge of the hull while a second end of the beam is positioned on the hull. The extension member increases the longitudinal length of the beam. The support member is disposed adjacent the edge of the hull. The hold-down member is configured to apply a force to the extension member in a direction toward the hull when the first end of the beam is extended over the edge of the hull. A method of increasing the capacity of the cantilever system comprises increasing the spacing between the support member and the hold-down member.
