The present invention provides universal well cement additives and methods. The universal well cement additives improve the properties of a well cement slurry and can be comprised of iron chloride, a dispersing agent, an organic acid, a hydratable polymer and an ultra-fine particulate hydraulic cement.

Universal well cement additives and methods

A well completion spacer fluid is provided which is particularly suitable for separating a cement slurry from drilling fluid in primary cementing operations. The well completion spacer fluid is also useful for separating other potentially incompatible fluids in the wellbore, such as, separating drilling fluid from a completion brine. The spacer fluid basically comprises water, a hydrous magnesium silicate clay, silica and organic polymer(s).

Well completion spacer fluids and methods

An apparatus for downhole injection and mixing of fluids into a cement slurry. The apparatus includes embodiments which either carry a fluid to the proper injection point in a wellbore or maintain it at the proper injection point until activated. In a first embodiment, the apparatus is characterized as a cementing plug having a fluid holding chamber therein. When the plug is pumped downwardly in the wellbore, the fluid in the chamber is flowed out of the chamber and mixed with the cement slurry by a venturi effect. In a second embodiment, the apparatus is characterized by a casing portion having a fluid holding chamber therein. A solenoid valve controls communication of the chamber with the well annulus, and fluid flow through the well annulus causes the fluid in the chamber to be flowed outwardly by a venturi effect. The second embodiment includes a casing shoe disposed below the fluid holding chamber. A third embodiment is disclosed which is substantially the same as the second embodiment except that it utilizes a casing cementing valve rather than a casing shoe. Methods of utilizing the apparatus to cement a well casing and mix a fluid, such as an accelerant, with the cement slurry are also disclosed.

Apparatus for downhole injection and mixing of fluids into a cement

A method for injecting fluid, such as an accelerator, into a wellbore comprises storing the fluid in a reservoir, locating the reservoir downhole in the wellbore, and then transferring the fluid from the reservoir into the wellbore. More particularly, one embodiment of the method comprises storing the fluid in a reservoir in a plug, pumping the plug down casing in a wellbore, and transferring the fluid at the bottom of the wellbore via a venturi effect. Another embodiment of the method comprises storing the fluid in a reservoir integrated into the wall of a portion of casing, setting the casing in the wellbore, and then transferring the fluid via a venturi effect from the reservoir into the annulus defined between the casing and the wellbore.

Method for injecting fluid into a wellbore

A system for cementing well casing in a bore hole utilizes only top and bottom cementing plugs. The well casing has on its lower end, an inwardly extending lip to engage a latch on the lower portion of the bottom cementing plug. The bottom cementing plug has a through passage that is covered on the top by a diaphragm and on the bottom by another diaphragm.

Case cementing method and system

A method of cementing in a wellbore penetrating subterranean formations characterized by mixing a predetermined quantity of Portland Cement containing at least 2 percent by weight of tricalcium aluminate; at least 2 percent by weight of gypsum; and 0.3-2.0 percent by weight of polyvinyl alcohol with enough water to form a pumpable slurry; pumping the slurry to a desired location in the wellbore and allowing the slurry to harden to a solid mass. Also disclosed is the composition. These methods and composition provide a cementing that has many advantages and beneficial results as delineated in the specification.
