A sensor device includes the ability to determine part presence and at least one physical characteristic of the part. A drive coil and sense coil are arranged so that a voltage applied across the drive coil causes a response in the sense coil, which is influenced by the presence of the item of interest. In a first mode, a controller determines whether the item is present by determining an amount of coupling between the drive coil and the sense coil, which is indicative of whether a part is present near the sense coil. In a second mode, the controller determines an amount of magnetic flux that is indicative of a thickness of the material. In another mode, constant current applied to the drive coil instigates a voltage across both coils. The amplitude of the sense coil voltage and a phase shift of the sense coil voltage relative to the drive coil voltage provides material thickness information.

A bird feeder support for supporting a solid bell-shaped bird feeder includes a base having an upper surface, a lower surface and a peripheral edge. Each of a pair of legs has a first and a second end. The first ends are each attached to the base such that each of the legs extends upwardly from the base. Each of the legs is arced such that the second ends abut each other and an inner perimeter edge of the legs is defined. A coupler is adapted for removably securing a bird feeder to the pair of legs such that the bird feeder is suspended between the legs.

A system and method for a rail assembly ensures that the correct arms are connected to the correct receivers. Each arm has a unique associated arm code, and each receiver is assigned a unique receiver code based on the job to be performed by the rail assembly. After the arms are connected to the receivers, a processor compares the receiver code of each receiver with the arm code of the arm inserted in that receiver. If the two codes do not match, the system generates an alert to notify the user of the improper connection. The alert may be an audible alert, a visual alert, and/or an operational stoppage of the rail assembly.

System and method for monitoring connections in a rail assembly

Liquid and powdered media for active ingredients, and specifically biostatic substrates or bases for the application of anti-microbial compositions, insecticides, and the like. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a composition for use as a substrate that includes powdered clinoptilolite in solution, polyethelenimine in solution, glycerol in solution, and starch in solution. Ingredients such as anti-microbial compounds, insecticides, and/or fragrances can be added to the substrate. In another embodiment, a synthetic zeolite can be substituted for the powdered clinoptilolite. The present invention also provides several methods for making liquid and powdered media, and a method and apparatus for controlling the emission of bacterial odors from a volume of material. Also disclosed are compositions that act as a compatible base or substrate for anti-microbial and other solutions. The present invention provides a safer and more ecologically benign method for anti-microbial applications and enhances the effective life of certain anti-microbials, thus providing a time-released and residual quality unattainable with known water-diluted or solvent-based anti-microbials.

Biostatic media for active agents

An improved sensor includes an inductor coil which is formed about a central axis. The inductor coil is configured to provide a magnetic field radially outwardly of the central axis. The monitor circuit monitors changes in the impedance of the coil, to in turn provide an indication of the amount of metal mass radially outwardly of the sensor. The monitor circuit is set to be triggered at a particular amount of metal mass, which would in turn be tailored to the particular application. In one desired application, the sensor is utilized to detect the presence of a nut in a metal plate. Metal plates as are typically utilized with vehicles will often include a number of holes which are to receive nuts. If the nuts are not received in the holes, then that particular metal plate should not be further assembled into the product. One widespread use of such a technique is with the assembly of vehicle bodies. The side sensor will detect the presence of a nut in the hole when positioned within the bore of the nut. The use of the radially outwardly directed magnetic field provides a much more accurate indication of the presence of the nut than prior art 'forward looking' sensors.
