Provided, in one aspect, is a ball seat release apparatus. The ball seat release apparatus, according to this embodiment, includes a shear sleeve, and a ball seat body located at least partially within the shear sleeve, a shear feature releasably coupling the ball seat body to the shear sleeve. The ball seat release apparatus according to this aspect further includes a ball seat slidingly engaged within the ball seat body, the ball seat configured to move from a first linear position to a second linear position, and further wherein a locking dog releasably couples the ball seat with the ball seat body.

Ball seat release apparatus

Provided, in one aspect, is a ball seat release apparatus. The ball seat release apparatus, according to this embodiment, includes a shear sleeve having a recess pocket and a ball seat body slidingly engaged within the shear sleeve, the ball seat body configured to move from a first linear position to a second linear position. The ball seat body further includes a longitudinal fluid passageway, a ball seat located in the longitudinal fluid passageway, one or more first fluid bypass ports coupling the longitudinal fluid passageway and an exterior of the ball seat body, the one or more first fluid bypass ports located on a first side of the ball seat, and one or more second fluid bypass ports coupling the longitudinal fluid passageway and the exterior of the ball seat body, the one or more second fluid bypass ports located on a second opposing side of the ball seat.

A method for reverse circulation cementing of a liner in a wellbore extending through a subterranean formation is presented. A running tool with expansion cone, annular isolation device, and reverse circulation assembly is run-in with a liner. The annular isolation device is set against the casing. A valve, such as a dropped-ball valve, opens reverse circulation ports for the cementing operation. The liner annulus is cemented using reverse circulation. An expandable liner hanger, if present, is expanded into engagement with the casing. The running tool is released and pulled from the hole.

Cementing a liner using reverse circulation

Disclosed are apparatus and methods for completing a wellbore, using expandable tubular to form a sealed connection. More particularly, embodiments of the present invention relate to forming a seal between a radially expanded tubular and a receptacle, wherein annular-shaped, radially extending protrusions are present between the tubular and the receptacle to form a durable sealed connection therebetween.

A running tool with expansion cone, release assembly, annular isolation device, and reverse circulation assembly is run-in with a liner. The annular isolation device is set against the casing. A valve, such as a dropped-ball operated sliding sleeve valve, opens reverse circulation ports for the cementing operation. The liner annulus is cemented using reverse circulation. The expandable liner hanger is expanded into engagement with the casing. Conventional circulation is restored. The running tool is released and pulled from the hole.

A release mechanism for use with a downhole component in a wellbore environment comprises a shifting sleeve disposed about a mandrel, where the shifting sleeve is torsionally locked with respect to the mandrel, a collet prop disposed about the mandrel and engaged with the shifting sleeve, where the engagement between the collet prop and the shifting sleeve is configured to torsionally lock the collet prop with respect to the shifting sleeve, and a collet engaged with the collet prop, wherein the collet couples the mandrel to the downhole component.

Pressure activated contingency release system and method

A release system comprises a torsional lock sleeve disposed about a mandrel, and a collet prop engaged with the mandrel. The torsional lock sleeve and the mandrel are configured to substantially prevent rotational movement of the torsional lock sleeve about the mandrel, and the torsional lock sleeve is configured to shift between a first position and a second position with respect to the mandrel. When the torsional lock sleeve is in the first position, the collet prop is retained in engagement with a collet and the collet prop is retained in a torsionally locked engagement with the torsional lock sleeve. The collet prop is configured to longitudinally translate in response to a rotational movement when the torsional lock sleeve is disposed in the second position. A shifting assembly is configured to engage the torsional lock sleeve and shift the torsional lock sleeve from the first position to the second position.
