A rotary pump () comprises a housing () having a first () and second fluid port () and an interior surface defining a cavity () in which a rotor () is located, wherein the rotor comprises at least a surface recess (-) forming at least a fluid-conveying chamber (-) with the interior surface of the housing. The pump further comprises at least a resiliently deformable diaphragm () providing part of the interior surface of the housing and being urged into contact with the surface of the rotor by the action of pressurising means acting on the rear surface of the resiliently deformable diaphragm. The pump further comprises one or a pair of flow channels () associated with the resiliently deformable diaphragm extending longitudinally from opposite ends of the rotor. In embodiments where the pump comprises one flow channel (), the flow channel is in fluid communication with the first fluid port and an aperture () opens from the interior surface of the housing to place the second fluid port in direct fluid flow communication with the fluid-conveying chamber. In embodiments where the pump comprises a pair of flow channels (), the pair of flow channels comprise a first flow channel in fluid communication with the first fluid port and closed to the second fluid port and a second flow channel closed to the first fluid port and in fluid communication with the second fluid port, with each flow channel being located at opposite sides of the diaphragm. Embodiments of the invention exhibit continuous fluid flow when in use.

Pump with longitudinal flow channels

A dispenser head for in-line mixing and dispensing of beverages, which may be carbonated or nitrogenated. The dispenser head comprising a pump, a dilution mechanism, an additive mechanism, and outlet nozzle and optionally a regulation system. In use, the pump can pump concentrate liquid for the liquid product from a concentrate source to the dilution mechanism; the dilution mechanism can receive diluent liquid suitable for the liquid product from a diluent source, operable to mix the diluent liquid and the concentrate liquid and provide diluted concentrate liquid; and the additive mechanism can receive additive fluid for the liquid product from an additive source, to combine the diluted concentrate liquid and the additive fluid. The regulation system comprises a pump regulator means for regulating the quantity of concentrate liquid pumped into the dilution mechanism within the dispense period; a diluent quantity regulator means for regulating the flow of diluent liquid into the dilution mechanism; and an additive quantity regulator means for regulating the flow of additive fluid into the additive mechanism. Preferably, the dispenser head is a unitary device, which may be supplied attached to a vessel containing the concentrate.

The present application relates to pumps including: a first fluid port and a second fluid port, a housing having an interior surface defining a cavity, a rotor, being rotatably mounted within the housing, and comprising, a housing engaging surface area, and a surface recess that, a resiliently deformable diaphragm providing part of the interior surface of the housing, the rotor comprising an elongate body and a drive shaft, which body is substantially hollow and comprises separate first and second rotor cavities, the pump being arranged such that when the rotor body is located within the housing cavity, the first fluid port is in fluid flow communication with the first rotor cavity via the opening at the first end of the rotor, and the pump being arranged such that the resiliently deformable diaphragm always bisects the first opening and the second opening on the rotor surface recess as the rotor rotates.

Pump with a deformable diaphragm

A pump assembly comprising a housing, a support frame that can be attached to the housing, and a rotor that can rotate within the housing. The housing consists of resilient material and comprises an interior surface, an inlet portion including an inlet for fluid, an outlet portion including an outlet for the fluid, and a diaphragm portion. A housing-engaging surface area of the rotor will form a sealing interference contact with the interior surface, and a chamber-forming surface area of the rotor disposed radially inward from the housing-engaging surface area will form a chamber with the interior surface. When the rotor rotates within the housing as in use, the chamber can convey fluid from the inlet portion to the outlet portion. The diaphragm portion will bear against the chamber-forming surface as the chamber-forming surface travels from the outlet to the inlet, to prevent fluid passing from the outlet to the inlet and to expel the fluid from the chamber through the outlet portion. The support frame will be attached to spaced-apart portions of the housing, and will be sufficiently stiff to counter-balance the torque applied to the housing by the rotor.

Pump assembly

A pump comprising a housing and a rotor rotatably accommodated in the housing and having an axis of rotation. The housing comprises a resilient seal member, an inlet and an outlet for fluid. The rotor comprises first and second surface areas, and the rotor and housing are cooperatively configured such that the second surface area is radially recessed from the first surface area, forming a chamber with an interior surface of the housing, and the first surface area seals against the interior surface. The seal member is located azimuthally between the outlet and the inlet. The seal member will engage the first and second surface areas, operative to prevent the passage of fluid from the outlet to the inlet as the rotor rotates. An edge of the seal member is coterminous with an aperture through which the fluid can flow.

Pump arrangements for pumping fluid

A pump comprises a housing, with an interior defining a rotor path, an inlet formed in the housing at a first position on said rotor path, an outlet formed in the housing at a second position on said rotor path spaced from said first position. A rotor is rotatable in the housing with a first surface that seals against the housing. A second surface is formed on said rotor circumferentially spaced from said first surface and forms a chamber that travels around said rotor path to convey fluid from the inlet to the outlet. A resilient seal formed with the housing is located on the rotor path to prevent fluid flow from said outlet to said inlet past the seal. A passage may be provided to supply fluid to an under surface of the seal at a pressure that acts to urge the seal against the rotor.

Pump with a resilient seal

A pump is formed by a housing () having an inlet () for connection to a source of fluid and an outlet () for pumped fluid. A rotor () is rotatable within the housing and the inlet () and the outlet () are spaced apart around the path of the rotor () in the housing. The rotor () has surfaces (a,b,c,d) that form, with the housing (), closed chambers (a,b,c,d) which travel around the housing () to convey fluid from the inlet () to the outlet (). The housing () carries a seal () that is located between the inlet () and the outlet () in the direction of travel of the rotor (). The seal () co-operates with the rotor surfaces (a,b,c,d) as the surfaces (a,b,c,d) pass between the outlet () and the inlet () to prevent the formation of a chamber during said passage and so prevent fluid flow from the outlet () to the inlet (). Such a pump is easily and cheaply produced and is particularly useful in medical applications.

Pump with conveying chamber formed in outer rotor surface

A pump is formed by a housing () having a fluid inlet () and a fluid outlet () and containing a rotor () forming with the housing () chambers () that, on rotation of the rotor () by a drive, convey fluid from the inlet () to the outlet () to pump the fluid. A seal assembly () is arranged between the outlet () and the inlet (). The seal assembly () includes a membrane () that contacts the rotor () and a flexible resilient spring member () that provides a force urging the membrane () against the rotor (). The spring member () thus, on rotation of the rotor (), moves radially relative to the axis of rotation of the rotor () and is arranged to provide a force on the rotor () via the membrane () that is constant and a minimum to maintain a seal between the rotor () and the seal () for a given outlet pressure of the pumped fluid.

Pumps

A pump is formed by a housing () having an inlet () and an outlet () for a fluid. The housing () contains a rotator () provided with at least one surface recess () that forms with an interior surface of the rotor a chamber () that, on rotation of the rotor (), conveys fluid from the inlet () to the outlet (). A flexible seal () is provided on or as part of the housing () and is located between the inlet () to the outlet () to engage the rotor () to prevent fluid passing from the outlet () to the inlet (). A second inlet () is provided leading to the outlet () for the supply to the outlet () of a second fluid and the second inlet () also supplies the second fluid to the back of the seal () to urge the seal () against the rotor ().

A pump fitting has an inlet adaptor () for connection to an outlet () of a container () of fluid and including an inlet passage (), an outlet passage () for fluid and a pump housing () between the inlet passage () and the outlet passage (). The pump housing () contains a rotor () rotatably received in an interior surface of the housing (). The rotor () includes a housing-engaging surface () co-operating with the interior surface of the housing () to form a seal therebetween and also including at least one shaped surface () radially inwardly of the housing-engaging surface and forming with the interior surface of the housing a chamber () for conveying fluid from the inlet passage () to the outlet passage () on rotation of the rotor (). A seal () is provided between the outlet passage () and the inlet passage (), the seal () being urged into engagement with the rotor () to prevent fluid passing from the outlet passage () to the inlet passage () as the shaped surface rotates. The inlet passage (), the outlet passage () and the housing () are formed as a one-piece molding.

Pump fittings and methods for their manufacture

A pump assembly comprises an inlet, an outlet and a housing having an inlet aperture in fluid connection with the inlet, and an outlet aperture in fluid connection with the outlet. A rotor located within the housing is shaped to form with an interior surface of the housing a chamber. On rotation of the rotor, the chamber conveys fluid from the inlet aperture to the outlet aperture. The housing carries a seal located in the inlet and urged into contact with the rotor to prevent the passage of fluid past the rotor from the outlet to the inlet. Center lines of the inlet and the outlet are parallel to one another. The outlet can be formed by linear movement of a mold core.

Pump and its manufacturing method

A pump includes a housings and a rotor capable of rotating within the housing. The rotor engages an interior surface of the housing in use, with at least two radially-inward shaped surfaces on the rotor forming respective chambers with the interior surface. In use, the chambers transport fluid from an inlet in the housing to an outlet in the housing as the rotor rotates. A seal provided between the inlet and the outlet will engage each of the shaped surfaces to prevent fluid passing from the outlet to the inlet as each shaped surface travels from the outlet to the inlet. The rotor includes a surface portion extending axially and circumferentially between respective edges of the shaped surfaces. On planes normal to an axis of rotation of the rotor, the surface portion of the rotor has a greater curvature than that of the interior surface of the housing.
