In examples, a method of operating a surgical device comprises disengaging an obturator from a funnel portion of a cannula; removing a shaft portion of the obturator from a cannula lumen of the cannula; disengaging a seal cartridge from the funnel portion of the cannula; and removing the seal cartridge from the funnel portion after removing the shaft portion of the obturator from the cannula lumen.

Cannula assembly

A trocar assembly can include a cannula, a seal cartridge, and an obturator. The seal cartridge is configured to be releasably coupled to the cannula and to be disposed at least partially within the cannula in a coupled configuration of the seal cartridge. The obturator is configured to directly latch to the cannula and to extends through the cannula and the seal cartridge in a coupled configuration of the obturator.

A method of forming a metallic wetting layer on the surface of a metal component is provided, including the steps of placing the component into a chemical vapor deposition furnace, placing a metal-containing salt in the furnace, and heating the component and the metal-containing salt in the furnace to cause the metal from the metal-containing salt to deposit in a coating on the surface of the component forming a metallic wetting layer that improves the metallic bond of a subsequently applied brazing material. The process can be practiced with the addition of a cleaning reagent to both clean and coat in one operation.

Chemical vapor deposition of metal layers for improved brazing

Methods for cleaning surface deposits, such as sulfidation deposits or dust particles, from a surface bounding an internal passage in a turbine engine component. The surface deposits are cleaned by placing a halogen-containing organic compound, such as a fluorine-containing organic compound, into the internal passage and heating the component and organic compound to chemically react the halogen-containing species in the liquefied and boiling organic compound with the deposits. The temperature is further elevated to vaporize the chemically-modified deposits, which are moved by mass transport through the internal passage and out of the turbine engine component. An optional protective coating, such as a chromium or aluminum coating, may be applied to the cleaned surface of the internal passage.

Methods of using halogen-containing organic compounds to remove deposits from internal surfaces of turbine engine components

A braze alloy powder mixture that includes a low-melt powder composition and a high-melt powder composition. The low-melt powder composition is made of one or more low-melt powders and includes 50-70% Ni, 8-20% Cr, 8-15% Ta, 4-10% Co, 2-7% Al, and up to 2.25% B. The high-melt powder composition is made of one or more high-melt powders and includes 50-70% Ni, 2-10% Cr, 2-10% Ta, 5-15% Co, 2-10% Al, 2-10% W, and up to about 3% each of Re, Mo and Hf. Up to about 1% Ti, W, Mo, Re, Nb, Hf, Pd, Pt, Ir, Ru, C, Si, and/or Zr may be included in the low-melt powder, while the high-melt powder may include up to about 1% each of Ti, Nb, C, B, Si, and Zr.

Nickel diffusion braze alloy and method for repair of superalloys

An improved cobalt-base braze alloy composition is provided for use in repairing superalloy articles, such as gas turbine engines, power generation turbines, refinery equipment, and heat exchangers. The improved cobalt-base braze alloy composition includes nickel; at least one element selected from the group of rhenium, palladium, platinum, ruthenium, and iridium; at least one element selected from the group of boron and silicon; and the remaining balance consists of cobalt. This composition may also include aluminum and/or one or more rare earth/lanthanide series elements, and the composition may be combined with one or more powdered base metal superalloy compositions to form an improved diffusion braze alloy mixture. The compositions according to the present invention enable a repair composite formed of such compositions to at least equal the mechanical, environmental, and processing properties of the superalloy base metal being repaired.
