The disclosure describes a one reactor process for making a bio-based polyester resin and the polyester polymer thereof The bio-based polymer is the product of a condensation reaction of (a) a rosin diol, (b) neopentyl glycol, (c) succinic acid, (d) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and (e) dipropylene glycol or tripropvlene glycol, wherein the rosin diol is a reaction product between a rosin acid and a cyclic alkylene glycol and comprises only one rosin moiety. The resultant polyester resin retains thermal properties as compared to a similar resin but made using previous multi-step processes conducted in separate vessels.

Toner comprised of a sustainable polyester resin

The disclosure describes dry acrylate resin particles, optionally, with a C/O of at least about 4, comprising a heterocycle comprising sulfur, exhibiting high charge and improved RH sensitivity.

Carrier resins with improved relative humidity sensitivity

The disclosure generally describes carrier resins, and in particular, resins used for carrier coatings which include at least one ester functional group and at least one cyclic aliphatic group containing at least one nitrogen atom in the cyclic ring structure. Carriers having such resins in the coating exhibit high charge and excellent relative humidity (RH) sensitivity of charge to changing environmental conditions.

The disclosure relates generally to toner additives, and in particular, toner additives that provide desired higher toner charge and low relative humidity (RH) sensitivity. The toner additives comprise titania nanotubes or titania nanosheets in combination with or in place of the commonly used anatase or rutile crystalline titania.

Toner additives

The disclosure relates generally to toner additives, and in particular, toner additives that provide desired higher and stable toner charge. The toner additives comprise silica nanotubes in combination with or in place of the commonly used silica or titania particulate additives.

The present disclosure provides processes for producing images of excellent color fidelity when incorporating a magenta toner with a lower colorant loading in addition to a first magenta toner. In embodiments, the magenta pigmented particles may be magenta emulsion aggregation toners. In accordance with the present disclosure, a pair of magenta toners are matched in color, wherein the color of a first magenta toner printed at a predetermined halftone area coverage on a substrate substantially matches the color of the solid (100%) printed patch of the second magenta toner, which is lighter than the first magenta toner, thus avoiding a visible hue shift on the print that would otherwise be objectionable. In embodiments, the light magenta toner is color matched by adding a hue-adjusting colorant or combination of colorants which absorb wavelengths of light between 400 and 500 nanometers, and optionally adding a shade-adjusting colorant or combination of colorants which absorb wavelengths of light between 600 and 700 nanometers.

Toner compositions

A toner having at least one binder, at least one colorant and external additives. The external additives include at least one of silica and titania, and at least two metal stearates. A developer may be produced including the toner having at least two metal stearates and a carrier. An electrophotographic machine includes the toner with two metal stearates.

Particle external surface additive compositions

A toner comprised of a sulfonated polyester resin, colorant and thereover a quaternary organic component ionically bound to the toner surface.

A toner composition comprised of resin particles, pigment and a charge enhancing additive comprised of a polymer or said resin particles with a charge enhancing moiety chemically attached thereto, and which charge additive is of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is an alkaline, an alkaline earth metal, a metal, or the ammonium cation H.sub.4 N+, R'.sub.4 N+ wherein R' is an alkyl or arylalkyl group; R is alkylene, cyclohexyl, bisphenol, bis(alkyloxyl), or oxyalkylene; and R' is an alkylene, an arylene, cycloalkylene group.

Toner compositions with charge enhancing resins

A process for the preparation of toner comprising mixing a colorant, a latex, and two coagulants, followed by aggregation and coalescence.

Toner coagulant processes

A process for the preparation of branched thermoplastic resins comprising: heating a mixture of an unsaturated resin, a free radical initiator, and a stable free radical agent; adding to the heated mixture at least on polymerizable monomer; and cooling the mixture, wherein the resulting product is a branched thermoplastic resin with arms or branches comprised of polymerized monomer with substantially uniform length and narrow polydispersity.

A process which comprises maintaining a mixture of carbon dioxide, surface treating agent and colorant at a temperature of from about -10.degree. C. to about 200.degree. C., and optionally removing carbon dioxide.

A process for the preparation of carrier comprised of mixing in a high shear device a carrier core and a carrier coating.
