A device for sealing a magnetic roll to a developer housing includes a plastic retainer having side walls that are spring loaded with a felt seal adhesively positioned within the side walls. The spring loaded side walls of the plastic retainer help hold the felt seal in place and facilitates ease of installation onto the magnetic rolls.

Automatic camming of a developer module

In one embodiment of an ink jet print cartridge wherein ink flows from an ink container to a printhead via an ink manifold which includes an ink pipe which projects into an outlet port in the ink container. The interface between the manifold and the outlet port is sealed by placing a foam member, in compression, between two adjoining surfaces. In one embodiment, the foam is a closed cell neoprene. In another embodiment, the foam is a dual membrane consisting of a first layer of closed cell foam laminated to an open cell foam. In a third embodiment, a member is used to both seal the pipe to outlet port interface and also to wipe the ink pipe clear of ink. A polyurethane member is affixed to the outside surface of the ink container adjacent the outlet port. The polyurethane member has an aperture with a diameter which is smaller than the outside diameter of the ink pipe. When the ink pipe is projected through the polyurethane member aperture, it causes the member to extend over the top surface of the ink pipe and into a sealing engagement thereon. Upon withdrawal of the pipe (or withdrawal of the container), the polyurethane acts as a wiper to wipe the surface of the ink pipe free of any residual ink.

A latch for releasably securing a member to a support structure. The latch includes a substantially rigid member mounted pivotably in the member. The rigid member includes a catch disposed at one end thereof and a handle at another end thereof. The rigid member also includes a substantially resilient member coupled to the rigid member for urging the rigid member to pivot to a position in which the catch thereof engages the support structure to secure the member thereto. The handle is adapted to pivot the rigid member to release the catch from engagement with the support structure to release the member.

A bearing for supporting a moving member on a support structure. The bearing includes a substantially U-shaped member having an internal periphery and an external periphery. The bearing also includes a first securer, associated with the internal periphery of the U-shaped member, for securing the moving member to the U-shaped member and a second securer, associated with the external periphery of the U-shaped member, for securing the U-shaped member to the support structure.

A scanning arrangement for supporting a device for scanning movement across a field, having a carriage supported for scanning movement through two parallel and co-planar U-shaped channels, each channel having upper and lower bearing surfaces, and an open side facing the opposite channel. The carriage is supported on a tri-roll bearing, including a rigid driver roll drivingly coupled to the axle member and in driving engagement with one of the bearing surfaces, and two rigid idler rollers, each in driven engagement with the driver roll and the other bearing surface, and maintained in non-contacting relationship, while provided with a spring force biasing the idler rolls toward one another.

A free floating mount for the holographic disc of a scanner which enables centrifugal force developed by rotation of the disc to bring the disc into perpendicular relationship with the axis of the disc motor shaft and prevent disc wobble, comprising, a first self aligning couple composed of a pin and socket for supporting the disc on the end of the motor shaft, the shaft and disc having coaxial bores therethrough; a tensioning cable assembly extending through the motor shaft and disc bores, one cable segment of the cable assembly being attached to a retaining ball receivable in a socket in the disc, the retaining ball and socket forming a second self aligning coupling; a second cable segment at the opposite end of the cable assembly having a retaining ball attached thereto receivable in a socket in the motor shaft end and forming a third self aligning coupling; an extension spring interconnecting the first and second cable segments to form the cable assembly whereby the motor shaft and disc are biased through the second and third self aligning couplings into engagement through the first self aligning coupling to drivingly mount the disc on the motor shaft.

Holographic disc mount

A copier capable of producing simplex and duplex copies includes a tri-roll inverter that employs a spring loaded ball on roll return force applicator located downstream from the tri-roll input/output members. The input nip of the inverter includes the combination of a smooth roll and a foam roll. This combination corrugates lightweight papers for penetrating the ball on roll nip. A sheet driven by the input nip into the inverter penetrates the ball on roll return force applicator nip. When the last portion of the sheet leaves the input nip, the friction return force of the applicator nip will cause the sheet to buckle into an output nip formed by the foam rolls of the tri-roll members for outward movement.
