The present disclosure provides medical devices, particularly medical grade needles with removable tips, as well as methods of needle tip installation and removal, and devices therefor. Needle tip installation and removal devices may include needle tip installation and removal tools and kits, including hand held and manipulated tools that facilitate the installation and removal of needle tips, particularly on vascular access port needles. Such installation and removal devices may provide more expedient hook up of the access port for the therapy. Also, the installation and removal of the needle tips may be conducted in a more sterile manner.

A medical device is provided which comprises an implantable vascular access port including a fluid passage operable to introduce fluid to a host and/or remove fluid from the host, the fluid passage accessible through a fluid passage access opening and at least a portion of the fluid passage defined by a needle configured to penetrate cutaneous tissue of the host; and an implantable vascular access catheter connectable with the vascular access port; wherein the vascular access catheter and the vascular access port are connectable to each other within the vascular access port.

Devices, systems and methods for removal and replacement of a catheter for an implanted access port

A medical device comprising an implantable subcutaneous access port having a septum penetrable by a needle; the septum having a cavity located between an outer wall and an inner wall, the cavity containing a flowable media comprising a plurality of displaceable particles arranged to move in response to the needle being inserted through the outer wall and into the cavity and reposition around the needle.

A patency system for maintaining a patency of an indwelling medical device including an elongated shaft configured to be at least partially received within a portion of the indwelling medical device, and at least one cleaner configured to at least partially dislodge debris formed within the indwelling medical device.

Catheter patency systems and methods

A variable volume infusion port is provided. The infusion port may include a port body having an internal fluid reservoir, a septum, a stem to fluidly couple to a catheter lumen, and a displaceable member disposed in the internal fluid reservoir. In a first position, the displaceable member is disposed proximate the septum, providing a relatively small fluid volume within the infusion port. Insertion of an injection device through the septum causes the displaceable member to move to a second location distal from the septum, providing a relatively large fluid volume within the infusion port for the duration the injection device remains in the infusion port. The displaceable member may include a rigid member operably coupled to a biasing element or a flexible member coupled to a biasing element.

A medical device comprising a subcutaneous access port having an access port body and at least one needle having a removable needle tip and a needle shaft defining a needle lumen; the at least one needle housed within the access port body, the at least one needle extendable and retractable relative to the access port body; and a needle shift mechanism operable such that the at least one needle is extendable from and retractable into the access port body at a plurality of positions of the access port body.

Medical access port, systems and methods of use thereof

An implantable vascular access port for providing repeated therapy to a patient in need of such therapy, the access port, upon repeated use, presents each time an access needle at a new location so as to minimize scarring injury to the skin of the patient. The vascular access port may include a body, a cover comprising a plurality of openings, at least one needle comprising a tip and a shaft, the shaft defining a lumen, a needle elevator mechanism to operate the position of the at least one needle in at least a retracted position in which the at least one needle is disposed in the body and the needle tip below the cover and an extended position in which the at least one needle is engaged through at least a first one of the openings, and a needle shift mechanism to move the at least one needle from a first position in which the needle can engage the at least a first one of the openings, to a second position in which the needle can engage at least a second one of the openings.
