Various systems, methods, and processes for interrupting and/or terminating an archive operation and/or archive process are disclosed. A determination is made as to whether an archive operation is ongoing. Files being written to a storage device as part of the archive operation are monitored. Upon receiving a request to interrupt or terminate the archive operation, the initiation of writing of new files to the storage device is inhibited, and the completion of the writing the files being written to the storage device is permitted. The archive operation and/or archive process is then interrupted or terminated without the risk of data corruption.

A computer-implemented method for enabling deduplication of attachment files within a database is described. A database file comprising data blocks of an attachment file positioned intermittently among data blocks of the database file is inspected. A first map may be generated from the inspection of the database file and the attachment file. The data blocks of the database file and the data blocks of the attachment file are identified according to the first map. The data blocks of the database file are written to a database data file. The data blocks of the attachment file are written to an attachment data file. The attachment data file is deduplicated with at least one other data file.

A computer-implemented method for implementing an archiving-platform-specific storage interface. The method may include defining an application programming interface specification for a specific archiving platform. The method may also include providing the application programming interface specification to a storage system vendor. The method may further include archiving, using the specific archiving platform, data to a storage system provided by the storage system vendor. Archiving the data may include calling an application programming interface that complies with the application programming interface specification and communicating with the storage system through the application programming interface. A computer-implemented method for projecting hierarchical storage management functions may include enumerating objects stored on an endpoint system via an agent on the endpoint system. The computer-implemented method may also include transmitting, via a web service, information relating to the enumeration to a server. The computer-implemented method may further include receiving, via the web service, a hierarchical storage management policy from the server. The computer-implemented method may additionally include enacting the hierarchical storage management policy via the agent. Various other methods and systems are also disclosed.
