In at least one embodiment of a method of determining the efficacy of a therapeutic compound, the method comprises the steps of treating a subject having a disease state with an effective amount of therapeutic compound, harvesting at least one cell from the subject following a treatment with the therapeutic compound, bringing the at least one cell into contact with a stabilizing compound capable of completely or substantially preventing the degradation or inactivation of a diagnostic marker for the disease state, analyzing the at least one stabilized cell for the at least one diagnostic marker, creating a marker profile from at least one result determined from analyzing the at least one stabilized cell, and comparing the marker profile with at least one previous marker profile to determine efficacy of the therapeutic compound on the disease state.

Systems and methods of screening biomarkers in bodily fluids. According to at least one embodiment of the system for analyzing stabilizing agents of the present disclosure, the system comprises a detection platform comprising a plurality of detection sites each capable of receiving a diagnostic marker, a stabilization agent, and a detection agent. The system, in at least one embodiment, further comprises a detection device capable of determining a binding characteristic between the detection agent and the diagnostic marker in the detection sites. Further, the system may also be able to compare the binding characteristic among a plurality of detection markers to order the level of effect of the stabilizing agents assayed on the binding characteristic between the detection agent and the diagnostic agent.

In at least one embodiment, the processor has and executes a software program operational to determine a binding characteristic of the detection agent and a stabilized diagnostic agent in each of the plurality of detection sites, compare the binding characteristic among each of the plurality of detection sites, wherein the comparison of binding characteristics is capable of determining the stabilizing agent with the greatest effect on the binding characteristic between the detection agent and the diagnostic agent, generate a binding record using the compared binding characteristics, and deliver the binding record to a recipient.

A portable authentication device and method of authenticating products or packaging by analyzing key ingredients on products or on product packaging is disclosed. Light-sensitive compounds can be used to identify the product or product packaging. The product or product package may include visible or invisible ink containing a particular light-sensitive compound. The ink may be printed in one or more locations on the product or product packaging to produce an authentication mark, such as a bar code. The device includes an assembly for providing a source of light to irradiate the ink containing the light-sensitive compound on the sample product or product package, an optical detector to detect certain spectral properties emitted or absorbed by the irradiated ink and a controller to determine the authenticity of the sample product or product package by comparing the emitted or absorbed properties to a standard.

Portable authentication device and method of authenticating products or product packaging

A portable product authentication device and method for analyzing key ingredients and the relative amounts of key ingredients in products which in turn enables authentication and monitoring products for authenticity, fraud and quality control is disclosed. Particular light-emissive compounds can be used to identify and quantitate the relative levels of key ingredients in the products. The invention includes a probe assembly for providing a source of light to irradiate a sample product, an optical detector to detect emitted light from the irradiated product and a controller to determine the authenticity or quality of the sample product by comparing the emitted light to a standard. A small sample of the product to be authenticated is tested on site (e.g., at the point of manufacture or at the point of distribution) thereby giving immediate feedback as to its authenticity or quality. The sample, together with the light-emissive compound may be placed on a chip. The chip, together with the small amount of sample is placed in the probe assembly.
