A fluid medium vehicle is provided which has a main body and at least one engine attached to the main body. The engine is configured to provide thrust parallel to a thrust axis passing through the main body. A plurality of foils is moveably attached to and extends outwardly from the main body. The plurality of foils is arranged in pairs. Each pair of foils extends from the main body along opposite ends of one of a plurality of foil axes. Each foil axis is perpendicular to the thrust axis, and each foil is constructed as an independently positionable control surface and as an independently controllable propulsion device.

A casualty monitoring system is provided in communication with a vehicle controller and configured to monitor and shut down an undersea vehicle. The casualty monitoring processor and the vehicle controller receives, but is not limited to receiving; sensing notification by a depth cutoff switch, a battery over-temperature switch, an over-pressure switch which responds to internal pressure of the vehicle; and a watchdog timer which responds to a failing casualty monitor processor. Before the casualty monitoring processor or the vehicle controller responds to a predetermined setting from these components; casualty logic of the monitoring system will have immediately removed power to the vehicle via a start-up circuit.

Casualty monitoring system for autonomous vehicle

A vehicle control system is provided that includes an internal communications system. The vehicle control system further includes a controller configured to communicate with a plurality of independent vehicle systems via the internal communications system. The controller stores and accesses a plurality of libraries of system processes having data associated with the plurality of vehicle components. The controller maintains an operational state for the vehicle during an operational failure of at least one of the plurality of independent vehicle systems.

Autonomous underwater vehicle control system and method

A system and method of use is provided that includes: receiving configuration information from an unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV); automatically configuring a launch control console (LCC) according to the configuration information; and providing a graphical interface for a user to command the UUV to perform at least one task. The automatic configuration includes formatting commands and the graphical interface to suit a vehicle type and components of the UUV. Other embodiments include: aligning a navigation system in the UUV; selecting a mission; activating components in the UUV corresponding to the mission; and launching the UUV on the mission. Further embodiments include: downloading at least one preset associated with the UUV; modifying the presets; and displaying a status of components and a log of messages on the graphical interface.
