Fittings for the mounting of a radiator to the metalwork of an automotive vehicle, or for mounting attachments such as fan shrouds or cooling fans, are suitably positioned within the core of the radiator and attached in position during the bonding cycle for the radiator assembly or adhesively joined to the radiator core after the bonding cycle.

Radiator mounting fittings

A heat exchanger utilizing a tube and fin core or a plate-fin separator wherein a plurality of tubes or plates are arranged in one or more rows with either corrugated fins between the tubes or a stack of horizontal split plate fins have openings receiving the tubes. The fins overhang the row or rows of tubes at the leading and/or trailing edges and have louvres formed therein, with the louvres in the overhanging portion being progressively shortened from the outer edge of the fin. In addition, the louvre at the leading and/or trailing edge of the fin is oriented substantially parallel to the fin surface and the direction of bulk air flow through the core.

Louvred fins for heat exchangers

A multiple fluid heat exchanger having a unitary construction and formed of a stack of dished plates to form at least two fluid passages within the heat exchange elements formed by the plates and passages for a third fluid formed between at least some of the elements. The stack of plates are adapted to be simultaneously bonded together by a brazing or soldering operation, with the stack including at least one set of dished plates joined at their peripheries to form first and second fluid passages in a first set heat exchange elements, with the third fluid passages being formed in a second set of heat exchange elements. One set of heat exchange elements may have spaced fluid passages with corrugated heat exchange fins between the fluid passages to provide transverse passages for a cooling fluid, such as air. Additional arrangements of the sets of elements may be utilized for a fourth and/or fifth fluid.

Multiple fluid heat exchanger

An interplate inlet, outlet or other suitable fitting for use in a closely stacked plate heat exchanger which allows the placement of the fitting between the plates at any point along the length of the inlet or outlet header tank formed by the heat exchange plates. The fitting includes a pair of oppositely disposed facing substantially identical plates providing bubbles aligned with the bubbles at the ends of the heat exchanger plates and opening into a laterally extending conduit to be joined to a fluid hose or to receive appropriate fittings to receive a sensor or having internal threads to receive an externally threaded fitting.
