Earbud headphones configured for use with a portable media player that include a main body portion with an extended curvature configuration. In one example implementation, the earbud headphones include a speaker housing and an extension that form a gap between the speaker housing and the extension. A user can secure a portion of the user's outer ear in the gap (i.e., between the extension and speaker housing), such that the earbud is securely and comfortably held in place within the user's ear. Additionally, the earbud headphones can include interchangeable components, such that a user can customize the size, fit, and style of the earbud headphones.

A set of headphones designed to be used by DJ's for the purpose of mixing two or more music tracks being played from two or more audio playing devices. The headphones are configured such that a DJ can easily mute one headphone speaker so that the DJ can listen to a first music track that is being played through a sound system. At the same time, the headphones are configured to direct the complete stereo signal to the other headphone speaker so that the DJ can listen to the complete audio from a second music track. For example, when the DJ presses an audio control button, the set of headphones can automatically mute one of the speakers on the headphones, and automatically direct all of the stereo channels to the opposing speaker on the set of headphones.

Earbud headphones may be configured to be secured to a user's outer ear. The earbud headphones may comprise a speaker assembly configured to convert an audio signal into a sound wave audible to the human ear. A main body portion may support the speaker assembly. An extension may extend from the main body portion away from the speaker assembly to define a gap between the extension and the speaker assembly. The gap may be sized and positioned to receive a portion of a user's outer ear within the gap such that the portion of the user's outer ear is disposed between the extension and the speaker assembly and retains the earbud headphone in the ear of the user when the earbud headphone is worn by the user.

A configurable audio system for use in a plurality of different settings includes a set of speaker assemblies that can be attached, detached and reattached to a plurality of different accessories configured for use in specific settings (e.g., ski goggles, or conventional headphones). In one implementation, each accessory comprises a set of engagement assemblies for detachably receiving the set of speaker assemblies. For example, a strap on a pair of goggles can comprise a set of engagement assemblies affixed in-line with the strap. By contrast, a traditional headphone band can comprise a pair of engagement assemblies that extend from each opposing end of the traditional headphone band. In either case, each engagement assembly of the goggle strap or the traditional headphone band is configured in size and shape to attach to, and detach from, each speaker assembly, as desired.

A media delivery device that can automatically initiate and establish a secure wireless communication channel with an audio output device comprises a proximity module that recognizes a mutual engagement zone proximate to the media delivery device. The proximity module can detect when the audio output device is within the mutual engagement zone. Moreover, the media delivery device further comprises a communication module wherein upon the proximity module detecting the audio output device within the mutual engagement zone, the communication module automatically initiates and establishes a wireless communication channel with the audio output device. The media delivery device can then wirelessly communicate with the audio output device outside of the mutual engagement zone using the wireless communication channel.

An article of manufacture, such as a jacket or backpack, integrates the services of an audio delivery device, such as an MP3 player, with the services of a two-way communication device, such as a mobile phone, or a two-way radio such as a walkie talkie, citizen band radio, HAM radio, marine or aviation radio, and the like. The article integrates the reception and provision of input and output signals from both the audio devices within the article, thereby enabling a user to listen to music or to receive and place phone calls while engaged in activity. In one implementation, the article provides these functions by holding one or more devices for communicably connecting and switching the audio and communication devices, mixing signals received therefrom, and optionally enabling a user to reduce the volume or mute the signals as desired.

A personal portable integrator is used to integrate the services of an arbitrary audio delivery device such as an MP3, CD, DVD, radio, or other media player, with the services of an arbitrary two-way communication device such as a mobile phone, or a two-way radio such as a walkie-talkie, citizen band radio (e.g., CB), HAM radio, marine or aviation radio, and the like. The portable integrator receives and provides input and output signals from both the audio delivery device and the two-way communication device, thereby enabling a user to listen to music or other audio material and receive and place phone calls on a mobile phone simultaneously. The portable integrator provides these services by switching between the audio and communication devices, mixing signals received therefrom, and optionally enabling a user to reduce the volume or mute the signals as desired.
