The present invention provides a low viscosity photocurable composition including (i) a cationically curable component (ii) a free radically active component (iii) an antimony-free cationic photoinitiator (v) a free radical photoinitiator, and (vi) a toughening agent. The photocurable composition can be cured using rapid prototyping techniques to form three-dimensional articles which can be used in various aerospace and investment casting applications.

The present invention provides a clear, low viscosity photocurable composition including (i) a cationically curable compound (ii) an acrylate-containing compound (iii) a polyol-containing mixture (iv) a cationic photoinitiator and (v) a free radical photoinitiator. The present invention relates to a selective deposition modeling material containing a base material, a plasticizing component containing at least 10% by weight of at least one plasticizing agent that is solid at ambient conditions, and at least one tackifying resin that is compatible with the base material and the plasticizing component, wherein the modeling material has a viscosity of less than about 30 centipoise at 130&deg; C. The selective deposition modeling material can alternatively contain about 52% to 98% of a reactive polymeric material that is a mixture of at least one compound containing at least one glycidyl group per molecule, at least one compound having at least one terminal unsaturated group per molecule, at least one compound having at least one vinyl ether group per molecule or mixtures thereof; and a cure agent or activator; and optionally a non-reactive polymeric material or wax material, wherein the modeling material contains a fast set inducing segment content of about 10% to 70% by weight. The present invention further relates to a method for producing a three-dimensional article using said modeling materials.

Selective deposition modeling material

A system and associated method for forming three-dimensional objects under computer control and from a material which may be rendered flowable and then dispensed on a layer-by-layer basis. The layers of the material solidify or otherwise physically transform upon being dispensed thereby forming successive cross-sections. Selective deposition modeling system and method

An improved method for stereolithographically making an object by alternating the order in which similar sets of vectors are exposed over two or more layers. In another method, a pattern of tightly packed hexagonal tiles are drawn. Each tile is isolated from its neighboring tiles by specifying breaks of unexposed material between the tiles. A novel thermopolymer material adapted for use in thermal stereolithography. More particularly, a thermopolymer material comprising a mixture of: a low shrinkage polymer resin; a low viscosity material such as paraffin wax; at least one microcrystalline wax; a toughening polymer; a plasticizer. Alternative embodiments further include components to improve the materials ability to transfer heat and to improve strength. The subject material, together with the described process greatly reduce part building distortions while retaining desirable toughness, strength and jetting properties.
