A shim pack to reduce vibration of a stator core is disclosed. The stator core may include a plurality of laminates coupled to a dovetail of a keybar and separated by a space block. The shim pack may include an elongated body extending from a first end including a dovetail slot configured to couple to the dovetail of the keybar to a second end extending radially at least substantially an entire length of an adjacent space block. A stator and related generator including the shim pack may also be provided.

A laminated rotor and an electric machine including the laminated rotor are disclosed. In an embodiment, a rotor comprises a plurality of stacked laminations, wherein each lamination includes a plurality of radially extending slots arranged about a circumference of each of the plurality of laminations, and the plurality of radially extending slots in successive laminations in the stack are aligned. A stud member passes longitudinally through at least one hole in the lamination stack, and a plurality of coils are positioned within the plurality of slots. Fewer than all of the plurality of slots have a coil positioned therein, leaving at least three slots empty. Balance members may be placed in the slots that do not have a coil positioned therein to balance the rotor.

Laminated rotor balancing provisions

A laminated rotor for an electric machine is disclosed. In an embodiment, the rotor comprises a plurality of stacked laminations. Each lamination includes a plurality of radially extending slots arranged about a circumference thereof, and a first chamfer on a surface of each of the slots, wherein the surface mates with a wedge. The first chamfer connects the surface and a first face of the lamination. A stud member passes longitudinally through a hole in the lamination stack, a first end flange member on a first end of the lamination stack, and a second end flange member on a second end of the lamination stack. A first fastener is affixed to a first end of each of the at least one stud member; and a second fastener affixed to a second end of each of the at least one stud member.

Laminated rotor machining enhancement

A stator assembly includes a segmented stator having stator portions. Each stator portion includes a support structure and dovetails, each coupled to the support structure by adjustable elements. The stator portion also includes stator laminations, where each of the laminations has openings to engage with the dovetails. Connectors are provided to connect the stator portions of the segmented stator together.

An electric machine and a stator assembly include a segmented stator having stator portions. Each stator portion includes end plates arranged axially on opposing sides of the stator portion, support plates arranged interior to the end plates, stator laminations arranged between the support plates, and stabilizing elements coupling the end plates and the support plates together. Each of the stabilizing elements has a dovetail portion coupled to the end plates and to the support plates. Connectors are provided to connect the stator portions of the segmented stator together.

A structural integrity monitoring system includes a structure, at least two vibration monitoring devices mounted to the structure. Each of the at least two vibration monitoring devices outputs a vibration response signal. The structural integrity monitoring system also includes a controller operatively connected to each of the at least two vibration monitoring devices. The controller is configured to calculate a predicted vibration response based upon a vibration mode shape and the vibration response signal. The controller then compares the predicted vibration response against a measured vibration response to detect changes in the structure.

Structural integrity monitoring system

A stator core suspension includes a frame for supporting a stator core; a keybar coupled to a stator core section of the stator core; and a spring bar coupled to the frame and coupled to the keybar so as to be substantially aligned radially outboard of the keybar. A spring bar used in the stator core suspension may also include a substantially uniform cross-section throughout a length thereof, which may also be rectangular or round in cross-section.

In one embodiment, a system includes a generator frame that includes a spring ring configured to mount removably between an outer annular support and a stator. The spring ring includes a first guide configured to circumferentially align the spring ring to the outer annular support, and a second guide configured to circumferentially align the spring ring to the stator.

A drive train for a wind turbine is provided. The wind turbine includes a rotor connected to a low speed shaft, and a low speed shaft connected to a gearbox. The gearbox has a high speed shaft connected to a generator. The drive train includes a bearing interposed between the gearbox and the generator. A gearbox lubrication medium is at least partially contained within the gearbox, and the bearing shares the gearbox lubrication medium with the gearbox.

A cooling flow bifurcation member is positioned in an outside radial flow passage of a generator between an end portion of a stator core and a stator flange. The flow bifurcation member includes a main body portion having a tapered surface that transforms a first flow having a first velocity passing into the outside radial flow passage into at least one other flow having another velocity. The at least one other flow is directed along at least one of an outer surface of the end portion of the stator core and the stator flange.

Method and apparatus for cooling generators

The invention is directed to a system and method for noise cancellation for an apparatus such as an electric motors or generator. The system may comprise a plurality of actuators, a plurality of phase controllers, each phase controller receiving an input signal representing a movement of an apparatus and outputting an output signal based on the input signal and at least one predetermined phase shift, and a plurality of amplifiers, each amplifier receiving an output signal from one of the phase controllers and outputting an amplified signal to drive one of the actuators. The method may comprise the steps of generating a first signal representing a movement of the apparatus, generating at least one second signal based on (a) the first signal, (b) at least one predetermined phase shift, and (c) at least one predetermined amplitude, and driving at least one actuator with the at least one second signal.

A system and method for cooling a superconductive rotor coil. The system comprises a rotatable shaft coupled to the superconductive rotor coil. The rotatable shaft may comprise an axial passageway extending through the rotatable shaft and a first passageway extending through a wall of the rotatable shaft to the axial passageway. The axial passageway and the first passageway are operable to convey a cryogenic fluid to the superconductive rotor coil through the wall of the rotatable shaft. A cryogenic transfer coupling may be provided to supply cryogenic fluid to the first passageway.
