One aspect of the invention provides a computer system having processing and memory means operable to provide a monetized online content system. The computer system is coupled to one or more resource modules each having data in the memory means and includes: an interceptor module configured to receive a request from a client for one or more resources available from one or more resource modules, refer the request to one or more of the resource modules configured to fulfill the request, receive one or more responses from one or more of the resource modules, at least one of said one or more responses having one or more events associated therewith, and transform the one or more responses by removing the one or more events associated with the one or more responses prior to presentation of the one or more responses to the client.

The present inventors devised, among other things, systems, methods, and software that allow users to readily access online legal research tools, while using other applications, such as word processors. One exemplary computer-implemented system provide an add-on software framework that integrates into a host word-processing application on a client access device. The add-on software framework allows users to select from an expandable listing of one or more web applications on a web server, with each of the web application capable of controlling operation of the host word processing application. The web applications facilitate extraction and access to information from the information-retrieval services and incorporation of the information in the document or in metadata associated with the document.

A system for use in editorial review of stored information includes a web interface adapted to provide a graphical user interface to a user. A first application component is adapted to run in the web interface. The first application component includes a first user interface component adapted to present information to a user and receive editorial content related to the information from the user. A first database communication component is adapted to communicate with a database containing the stored information and editorialize the stored information in the database in response to the editorial content received from the user. A first communication component is adapted to communicate within the web interface in response to the editorial content received from the user. A second application component is adapted to run in the web interface. The second application component includes a second user interface component adapted to present information to the user and receive editorial content related to the information from the user. A second communication component is adapted to communicate with first communication component. A second database communication component communicates with the database containing the stored information based upon data received from the first application component in response to the editorial content received from the user.
