The present invention provides a solution to the needs described above through a system and method for a wireless universal mobile product interface (WUMPI). Generally, products/objects have their own interface, or man-machine-interface (MMI). Technically, the wireless universal mobile product interface of the present invention (WUMPI) innovates this space by replacing the product's MMI by implementing reverse software control via wireless transmission channel and or Bluetooth wireless technologies to control the mobile device's screen&#x2014;replacing the local software component on the mobile device which controls what is shown on the screen in terms of a man-machine interface (MMI). This enables a product/object within the area of the mobile device to take over control via the wireless transmission channel or other wireless capability of the mobile device and to 'extend' the product interface to the mobile device that came within its control range, or the product/object's personal area network (PAN).

Methods and systems remotely monitor a current value of a meter display. A picture of the display is taken with a camera equipped portable communication device. The picture is sent through the portable communication device and associated infrastructure to a processing system. The processing system receives and stores the picture and, optionally, verification data, imaging location data, and other data, in a datastore. The processing system processes the picture to obtain a current value of the meter and authenticates the sender and/or the meter using the verification data and/or location data.

Method and system for remotely monitoring meters

A mobile decision support system for proactive decision support of an enterprise includes at least one server computer, at least one mobile communication device and at least one client system in operable communication over a network. The server computer includes a database. The client system may interface with the server computer and direct the configuration of hotspot information in the database. The hotspot information includes identification of a user, a response template and/or data. The mobile communication device may periodically request hotspot information from the server computer as a function of the user operating the mobile communication device. Based on the request, the hotspot information may be transmitted over the network to the mobile communication device. The user may generate a response to the hotspot information with the mobile communication device by selections within the response template. The response may be transmitted to recipients selected with the response template through reply channels also selected with the response template.

The invention concerns a localization and communication methods and system between mobile stations and a central server through a wireless network comprising a plurality of wireless radio-frequency transmitting access points (APQ-AP), among which a first access point is chosen to perform the communication, comprising the steps of measuring the signal strengths received by said station from the plurality of access points; storing each measured strength with an address identifying the corresponding connected access point; comparing said stored strengths to values of a predetermined table of signal strength thresholds affected to access points, defining one or more event zones (EVA, EVB) each comprising one or more attenuation ranges of one or more access points; and considering the station as located in a given event zone if the measured strength corresponding to an access point defining that event zone is comprised in the attenuation range of that access point.

An agent based system assists in obtaining information from an article of interest and utilizes the information to take user directed action based on the information from the target article. The system obtains input text in character form indicative of the target meeting from the a calendar program that includes the time of the meeting. As the time of the meeting approaches, the calendar program is queried to obtain the text of the target event and that information is utilized as input to the agent system. Then, the agent system parses the input meeting text to extract its various components such as title, body, participants, location, time etc. The system also performs pattern matching to identify particular appropriate information. This information is utilized to query various sources of information on the web and obtain relevant stories about the current meeting to send back to the calendaring system.
