A method of designing a filter to meet a set of specifications. The set of specifications is received, and a filter design is established. Analysis of the filter design is performed by: determining a part admittance matrix; determining a circuit admittance matrix based on the part admittance matrices; reducing interior nodes of the circuit admittance matrix; reducing algebraic nodes to transform the circuit admittance matrix into a Green's Function; evaluating the Green's Function to determine a circuit exterior node admittance matrix; and transforming the circuit exterior node admittance matrix to a circuit scattering matrix. The circuit scattering matrix is compared to the set of specifications to determine whether the filter design is satisfactory. When a determination is made that the design is not satisfactory, the filter design is modified and the process is repeated. When a determination is made that the design is satisfactory, a filter design description is output.

Spectral analysis of electronic circuits

Non-transitory computer-readable media to perform a method for designing a multiband filter. The method includes generating an initial circuit structure comprising a desired number and type of circuit elements; generating an initial circuit design by mapping the frequency response requirements of the initial circuit structure into normalized space; generating an acoustic filter circuit design by transferring the initial filter circuit design; generating a pre-optimized circuit design by unmapping one or more circuit elements of the acoustic filter circuit design into real space and introducing parasitic effects; and communicating the pre-optimized circuit design to a filter optimizer that generates a final circuit design comprising a plurality of resonators, wherein a first resonator exhibits a high resonant frequency, a second resonator demonstrates a low resonant frequency and the difference between the low resonant frequency and the high resonant frequency is at least 1.25 times the average frequency separation of the resonators.

Network synthesis design of microwave acoustic wave filters

A multi-band acoustic wave microwave filter, including a signal transmission path having an input and an output; a plurality of nodes disposed along the signal transmission path; a plurality of non-resonant branches respectively coupling one or more nodes to ground, wherein each non-resonant branch comprises at least one non-resonant element; and a plurality of resonant branches that couple one or more nodes to ground and include a plurality of resonators on said branches, wherein the plurality of resonators define a first band and at least one additional band and further wherein the difference between the lowest resonant frequency and the highest resonant frequency of the first band is at least 1.25 times the average separation of the resonators.

A method of designing an acoustic microwave filter in accordance with frequency response requirements. The method comprises selecting an initial filter circuit structure including a plurality of circuit elements comprising at least one resonant element and at least one other reactive circuit element, selecting circuit response variables based on the frequency response requirements, selecting a value for each of the circuit elements based on the selected circuit response variables to create an initial filter circuit design, transforming the resonant element(s) and the other reactive circuit element(s) of the initial filter circuit design into at least one acoustic resonator model to create an acoustic filter circuit design, adding parasitic effects to the acoustic filter circuit design to create a pre-optimized filter circuit design, optimizing the pre-optimized filter circuit design to create a final filter circuit design, and constructing the acoustic microwave filter based on the final filter circuit design.

An acoustic microwave filter comprises an input and an output, and a plurality of acoustic resonators coupled between the input and the output. The difference between the lowest resonant frequency and the highest resonant frequency of a plurality of resonators in the filter is at least 1.25 times the frequency separation of the resonator with the highest resonant frequency in the plurality of resonators. Another acoustic microwave filter comprises an input and an output, and a plurality of acoustic resonators coupled between the input and the output to form a passband. The frequency difference between a local minimum or a local maximum of a return loss magnitude of the acoustic microwave filter and the edge of the passband is at least once the frequency separation of the resonator with the highest resonant frequency.

Microwave acoustic wave filters

Methods for the design of microwave filters comprises comprising preferably the steps of inputting a first set of filter requirements, inputting a selection of circuit element types, inputting a selection of lossless circuit response variables, calculating normalized circuit element values based on the input parameters, and generate a first circuit, insert parasitic effects to the normalized circuit element values of the first circuit, and output at least the first circuit including the post-parasitic effect circuit values. Additional optional steps include: requirements to a normalized design space, performing an equivalent circuit transformation, unmapping the circuit to a real design space, performing a survey, and element removal optimization. Computer implement software, systems, and microwave filters designed in accordance with the method are included.

The method comprises selecting an initial filter circuit structure including a plurality of circuit elements comprising at least one resonant element and at least one other reactive circuit element, selecting lossless circuit response variables based on the frequency response requirements, selecting a value for each of the circuit elements based on the selected circuit response variables to create an initial filter circuit design, transforming the resonant element(s) and the other reactive circuit element(s) of the initial filter circuit design into at least one acoustic resonator model to create an acoustic filter circuit design, adding parasitic effects to the acoustic filter circuit design to create a pre-optimized filter circuit design, optimizing the pre-optimized filter circuit design to create a final filter circuit design, and constructing the acoustic microwave filter based on the final filter circuit design.

A method of designing an acoustic microwave filter comprises selecting a filter section based on frequency response requirements. The filter section includes an input, an output, and a plurality of circuit elements. The circuit elements have at least in-line acoustic resonators or in-shunt acoustic resonators. The method further comprises selecting a value for each circuit element, selecting a number of filter sections, and cascading the selected number of filter sections to create a cascaded filter circuit design, such that at least one pair of immediately adjacent filter sections are connected to each other via their inputs or their outputs. The method further comprises adding parasitic effects to the cascaded filter circuit design to create a pre-optimized filter circuit design, optimizing the pre-optimized filter circuit design to create a final filter circuit design, and constructing the acoustic microwave filter based on the final filter circuit design.
