A multi-layer display system may include a plurality of display panels/screens arranged in an overlapping manner, a backlight configured to provide light to the plurality of display screens, and a processing system. The processing system may be configured to: display content (e.g., button or text) on a first display screen of the plurality of display screens, detect an input (e.g., touch) proximate the content, and responsive to the input move the content so that it is displayed at least on a different display screen/panel such as a further rearward screen/panel and/or a further forward screen/panel. This may, for instance, simulate the pressing of a button or the like in the case of moving content so that is becomes displayed on a further rearward screen/panel.

Content bumping in multi-layer display systems

Certain example embodiments relate to a system including a user-interactive display device having LCDs in substantially parallel spaced apart relation to one another. A proximity sensor is located proximate to the user-interactive display device. A controller is configured to perform instructions to perform functionality including: generating visual content, including one or more user interface elements (e.g., user-interactive elements), for output to the user-interactive display device; causing the user-interactive display device to display the generated visual content; receiving output from the proximity sensor; determining when an object of interest comes into proximity to the user-interactive display device, based on the received output from the proximity sensor; and responsive to a determination that the object of interest has come into proximity to the user-interactive display device, updating the generated visual content and causing the updated generated visual content to be displayed via the user-interactive display device.

Multi-layer display including proximity sensor and depth-changing interface elements, and/or associated methods

A visual display device including a plurality of stacked display layers displaying a plurality of objects. A first reflective surface is positioned at an angle to the plurality of stacked display layers, and projects a first subset of objects in a first direction towards a viewer. The first subset of objects is projected as if originating from a first focal attentional region comprising a first plurality of object planes. A second reflective surface is positioned at the angle to the first plurality of stacked display layers. The first and second reflective surfaces are approximately parallel to each other. The second reflective surface projects a second subset of objects in the first direction towards the viewer. The second subset of objects is projected as if originating from a second focal attentional region comprising a second plurality of object planes.
