A pocket spring unit comprising a plurality of pocket springs each comprising a coil spring and a pocket. Each of the pockets comprise top portion and bottom portions. Each of the pockets are formed from a continuous top piece of fabric attached to a continuous bottom piece of fabric to form a bond having a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of each coil spring. The pocket spring unit further comprises an attachment layer comprising a top portion comprising an inner and outer surface. The pocket spring unit further comprises a plurality of first cushion elements engaged with the outer surface of the top portion of the attachment layer. The inner surface of the top portion of the attachment element is engaged with the top portion of the pockets of the pocket springs such that each of the first cushion elements act only upon one of the pocket springs.

Disclosed a reversible mattress comprising a layer of coil pockets comprising first and second coil pockets. Each of the first and second coil pockets comprise a coil spring disposed in a pocket. The mattress further comprises a first layer of cushion members comprising first and second cushion members engaged with an attachment member. The attachment member is engaged with the layer of coil pockets such that the first and second cushion members act directly upon the first and second coil pockets, respectively. The mattress further comprises a second layer of cushion members comprising first and second cushion members engaged with an attachment member. The attachment member is engaged with said second layer of coil pockets such that said first and second cushion members act directly upon said first and second coil pockets, respectively.

Disclosed is a pillow comprising a plurality of pocket springs each comprising a coil spring and a pocket. Each of the pockets comprise a top portion and a bottom portion. Each of the pockets are formed from a continuous top piece of fabric attached to a continuous bottom piece of fabric to form a bond having a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of each coil spring. The pillow further comprises an attachment layer comprising a top portion comprising an inner and outer surface. The pillow further comprises a plurality of first cushion elements engaged with the outer surface of the top portion of the attachment layer. The inner surface of the top portion of the attachment element is engaged with the top portion of the pockets of the pocket springs such that each of the first cushion elements act only upon one of the pocket springs.

Disclosed is a pillow comprising a plurality of pocket spring units. Each of the pocket spring units comprise a top portion, a bottom portion, and a side portion. The pillow further comprises an attachment layer comprising a top portion comprising an upper surface and a lower surface. The pillow further comprises a plurality of first cushion elements engaged with the upper surface of the top portion of the attachment layer. The bottom surface of the top portion of the attachment element being engaged with the top portion of the plurality of pocket springs units such that each of the first cushion elements act only upon one of the pocket spring units.

The present invention is a mattress comprising a first layer of cushion members secured to a layer of coil pockets. The layer of coil pockets comprises first and second coil pockets. Each of the first and second coil pockets comprise a pocket and a coil spring disposed in the pocket. The first layer of cushion members comprises an attachment member and first and second cushion members engaged with said attachment member. The attachment member is engaged with the layer of coil pockets such that the first and second cushion members act directly upon the first and second coil pockets, respectively. The first cushion member is free standing from the second cushion member thereby causing a pumping action to occur upon depression of the first cushion member and circulation of air.

The present invention is a spring unit for a mattress comprising first and second pocket springs. Each of the first and second pocket springs comprise a coil pocket comprising a pocket and a coil spring disposed in the pocket and a cushion pocket comprising a pocket and a first resilient member disposed in the pocket of the cushion pocket. Each cushion pocket is engaged with and acting only upon the corresponding coil pocket. Substantially the entire side of the pocket of the coil pocket of the first pocket spring is engaged with substantially the entire side of the pocket of the coil pocket of the second pocket spring. Each cushion pocket is free standing and not connected with each other thereby creating a pumping action upon depression of the first pocket spring and/or the second pocket spring that produces circulation of air within the mattress.

Spring unit for a mattress

The present invention is a mattress comprising a plurality of pocket springs. Each of the pocket springs comprise a coil pocket and a first cushion pocket. The coil pocket comprises a pocket and a coil spring disposed therein. The first cushion pocket comprises a pocket and a resilient member disposed therein. The first cushion pocket is disposed above and acts directly upon the coil pocket. The mattress may further comprise a second cushion pocket disposed below the coil pocket. The second cushion pocket comprises a pocket and a resilient member disposed therein. The second cushion pocket is engaged with and acts directly upon the coil pocket.

A force transfer harness that utilizes the harness structure to redirect the handler's forces through the harness structure and into the underlying ground is provided. The harness creates a moving support for a handler. Through the act of the dog sitting, the associated dog and handler cause a change in the orientation of the harness legs, both fixed and moveable, and cause the moveable legs to be brought into an angular relationship with the fixed legs that allows the harness to form a support structure. After the dog sits, the harness legs are brought in contact with the ground, whereas previously they were hovering above the ground in a ready orientation. As a result, the dog's act of sitting enables the human to transfer his or her weight through the harness and into the ground. As a consequence, the need to use a highly trained large breed dog for motion assistance is eliminated since all of the handler's forces are directed through the harness structure and into the ground rather than through the dog's body.

The present invention provides a method of optimizing a pressure contour of a pressure adjustable platform system by (a) measuring pressure in a plurality of bladders in the pressure adjustable platform system; (b) assessing whether a change in pressure in one or more of the plurality of bladders occurs; (c) determining whether a subject on the pressure adjustable platform system has adjusted position, moved or tossed; (d) generating an adaptive sleep algorithm; and (e) adjusting the pressure in one or more bladders.

Methods of optimizing a pressure contour of a pressure adjustable platform system

An apparatus () and a method of ink jet printing are disclosed that use a system for feeding a substrate longitudinally relative to a support area and a system for moving a printhead parallel to the direction of substrate feed. Indexing between transverse scan rows of a printhead () is carried out initially by the substrate feed system () and the actual feed distance is measured using an encoder or other substrate position measurement device (). A controller () determines the amount of any error that occurs between the actual and the desired feed distances. The controller () then sends signals to move the printhead () to compensate for any error in the feed system feed. Compensating adjustments are then made to the next subsequent substrate indexing step so that the printhead tends to move back toward its home or zeroed position with its next correction and does not walk away from this home position as a result of cumulative movements. For printers that have bridges () moveable relative to the machine frame () on which the printhead () is carried, printhead motion is achieved by moving the bridge, for example, by actuating a linear servo bridge motion system (). For fixed bridge roll-to-roll printers, the printhead () can be caused to shift longitudinally on the bridge () to make the correcting movements.

High precision feed particularly useful for UV ink jet printing on vinyl

Printhead-to-panel spacing is controllable to maintain a predetermined constant distance from the printing element to the surface of the panel where the ink is to be applied. Each of a plurality of printheads may be independently moveable to control the spacing of the printheads from the substrate surface. Sensors on the printhead carriage measure the shape, or vertical position of, the printhead's distance from the printhead carriage to the surface of the substrate being printed. The position or focal length of the UV light curing head may be varied to maintain focus of the UV light on the ink on a contoured surface of the substrate. UV curing heads may be located on the printhead carriage, one on each side of the printheads, and activated alternately as the carriage reciprocates, to spot cure and freeze the dots of ink immediately after being deposited on the substrate. Cold UV sources may be used to prevent heat deformation of flat or contoured substrates during printing, thereby making spot curing on heat-sensitive substrates such as foamboard possible.

Method and apparatus for ink jet printing on rigid panels

Ink jet printing is provided onto rigid panels such as foamboard and contoured material using ultraviolet (UV) light curable ink, which is first at least partially cured with UV light and then may be subjected to heating. Printhead-to-panel spacing is controllable to maintain a predetermined constant distance from the printing element to the surface of the panel where the ink is to be applied. Each of a plurality of printheads may be independently moveable to control the spacing of the printheads from the substrate surface. Sensors on the printhead carriage measure the shape, or vertical position of, the printhead's distance from the printhead carriage to the surface of the substrate being printed. An ink jet printing is provided on large area such as wide textile webs, having such pores or other opening therethrough such that, when ink is jetted from a print head onto the web, some of the ink jets through the opening to a side of the web opposite the print head. At the printing station, maintaining a space between the web and the surface such that the web is out of contact with the surface at the printing station so that when ink jetted through the web and onto the surface it does not contaminate the web.
