A liquid preservative for plated or unplated metal surfaces and surfaces of coatings, in the form of an aqueous wax dispersion which contains a special ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer wax, consisting of from 8 to 25% by weight of acrylic acid units and from 92 to 75% by weight of ethylene units, in partially or completely neutralized form, if appropriate as a mixture with waxes based on polyethylene oxidation products and/or hydrocarbon waxes, the use of this special ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer wax for preserving plated or unplated metal surfaces and surfaces of coatings, and a process for temporarily preserving metal surfaces and surfaces of coatings.

Water-soluble copolymers which consist of from 40 to 90% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids of 3 to 5 carbon atoms, from 60 to 10% by weight of one or more ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acids of 4 to 8 carbon atoms and/or of the corresponding dicarboxylic acid anhydride and, if required, not more than 15% by weight, based on the total weight of the carboxyl-containing monomers, of one or more carboxyl-free monomers, and which are esterified with from 2 to 60% by weight, based on the total weight of the carboxyl-containing monomers, of one or more compounds which contain a terminal hydroxyl group and one or more alkylene oxide groups of 2 to 4 carbon atoms, the preparation of such water-soluble copolymers and their use as assistants in detergents, cleansing and dishwashing agents.

A print paste for printing textiles of polyester, cellulose acetate, cellulose triacetate and mixtures of the same with other fibers which is based on a disperse dye, thickener, ethanolamide of a carboxylic acid and water and which is characterized by a content of at least one phenol which has been oxyethylated twice to six times. The paste yields prints having excellent color strength and levelness.
