A method for determining wave height by means of a radar carried by an aircraft, the method implementing the following steps: a first step of pointing the antenna of the radar; a second step of determining the clutter acquisition plan according to the altitude of the aircraft; a third step of determining, for each clutter zone defined by the acquisition plan, two Doppler parameters PARA1 and PARA2 characterising the zone as a whole; a fourth step of calculating the average values of the parameters PARA1 and PARA2 over all of the zones in question; and a fifth step of estimating the wave height from the averages of the parameters PARA1 and PARA2. The wave height estimated in this way is transmitted to the aircraft and used to determine the conditions for the water landing of the aircraft.

Method for measuring wave height by means of an airborne radar

Upon each new detection, called pivot detection, by a radar system, the method includes the steps consisting of: grouping together, with the pivot detection, grouped detections, defined as detections that belong to a sweep preceding the sweep of the pivot detection and that have a non-nil probability according to a grouping criterion; filtering the grouped detections so as to keep only detections that are kinematically strictly coherent with the pivot detection, by: initializing a histogram, each dimension of which is a temporal variation of a coordinate measured by the radar system; computing a potential value interval for each coordinate of the pivot detection and each grouped detection; computing a minimum temporal variation and a maximum temporal variation for the or each coordinate from potential value intervals of the pivot detection and each grouped detection; incrementing the set of classes of the histogram whose index along each dimension is located between the computed minimum and maximum temporal variations; and detecting a target once at least one class of the histogram reaches a predefined value.

Method and system for detection by long integration of kinetically grouped recurring samples

A proximity radar method for a rotary-wing aircraft includes a sequence of phases T(k) of steps. In a first phase T(), the electronic computer of the radar system computes unambiguous synthetic patterns on the basis of a first activated interferometric pattern M() of N unitary radiating groups. In the following phases T(k) of steps, executed successively in increasing order of k, the electronic computer computes synthetic patterns on the basis of interferometric patterns M(k) of rank k, wherein the N unitary radiating groups of a series deviate simultaneously in terms of azimuth and in terms of elevation as k increases, and establishes maps of rank k of the surroundings in terms of azimuth distance/direction and/or elevation distance/direction cells wherein the detected obstacle ambiguities, associated with the network lobes, are removed by virtue of the map(s) provided in the preceding phase or phases.

Method for optimising the detection of marine targets and radar implementing such a method

Disclosed is a method and a system for the automated computation of a length or width dimension of a moving platform. The method includes sending radio waves toward the platform along a predetermined transmission axis and acquiring at least one digital power profile signal representative of a received reflected signal power as a function of a radial distance along the transmission axis relative to a reference point. This method next includes applying a filtering operator on the acquired digital power profile signal, making it possible to obtain a filtered digital signal, determining, by computation, a first radial distance corresponding to a first variation peak of the filtered digital signal and a second radial distance corresponding to a second variation peak of the filtered digital signal, and the computing a radial dimension of the platform as a function of the first and second radial distances.

Automated computation of a dimension of a moving platform

A detection method for a given mission comprises: a phase of analyzing the environment, wherein phase elements of influence on the sea clutter perceived by the radar are sought and stored in memory; a phase of updating the path to be followed by the carrier depending on the requirements of the mission and the elements of influence issued from the result of the analyzing phase, the path to be followed decreasing the power of the clutter received by the radar when the antenna is pointing towards a search zone liable to contain a target; the phases being repeated throughout the mission.

An analog signals generating device comprises a current pump controlled by a control code generated by a module for calculating the digital code with shaping of noise. The calculation module receives as input a digital signal representative of the analog signal to be generated and comprises at least one quantizer and a quantization error compensating stage. The current pump comprises two groups of at least one electric current generator and two groups of at least one switching means, the switching facilities being controlled by the control signal and causing the electric currents to flow between the electric current generators and the inputs of a differential amplifier exhibiting a predominantly capacitive input impedance and connected in series between the two groups of switching means.
