A method for controlling acknowledgement signalling in a multi-point communication system comprises receiving (S), in a wireless device, a data item over a first signalling path out of a plurality of possible signalling paths. Signalling path information associated with the received data item is obtained (S). A transmission of an acknowledgement message for the data item is initiated (S) to be performed over a second signalling path out of the plurality of possible signalling paths selected in dependence of the obtained signalling path information. Alternatively, or in combination, initiating of a transmission of an acknowledgement message comprising attaching of information of the identity of the second signalling path to the acknowledgement message. Methods, performed in a network node, assisting the wireless device are also disclosed. Devices for the methods are also presented.

Management of acknowledgement signalling in a multi-point communication system

According to a first aspect, there is provided a method for delay alignment in a multi-point communication system. The method comprises determining of a respective reference value of round trip time for n+1 signalling paths in the multi-point communication system, where n>0. The determination is performed using n reference values of round trip time skews between a respective signalling path and a single reference signalling path of the n+1 signalling paths, and a reference value of a sum of round trip times over all of the n+1 signalling paths as exclusive input values. The respective reference values of round trip times are limited within a predetermined allowed interval for round trip times. The method further comprises performing of a separate, preferably globally stable, control of data signalling in each single one of the n+1 signalling paths based on the respective reference values of round trip times.

Stable multi-point alignment

The disclosure provides, inter alia, a method performed by a wireless receiving node for receiving a data stream from one or more wireless transmitting nodes, the data stream comprising a sequence of data items. The method comprising: receiving an indication of an algorithm from a wireless transmitting node of the one or more wireless transmitting nodes; receiving a plurality of data packets from the one or more wireless transmitting nodes, each data packet comprising respective duplicate copies of data items belonging to the data stream; and utilizing the algorithm to select, based on respective times at which the data packets are received, for each position in the sequence, one or more of the duplicate copies of data items for reconstruction of the data stream.

Methods, apparatus and machine-readable media relating to transmission and reconstruction of data streams using data duplication

A method for kinematic state estimation of a user equipment connected to a wireless communication network includes obtaining range rate measurement data defining a change rate of a distance between the user equipment and a range rate measuring position and obtaining range measurement data defining a distance between the user equipment and a range measuring position. A kinematic state estimation of the user equipment is performed based on at least the range rate measurement data and the range measurement data. The kinematic state estimation includes interacting-multiple-model filtering using three interacting models. The interacting-multiple-model filtering includes a three-dimensional constant velocity movement Wiener process, a three-dimensional constant acceleration movement Wiener process, and a three-dimensional constant position Wiener process.

User equipment kinematic state estimation

A method for generating a probability map for a cell served by a network node is provided. The method includes generating a first probability map (P) indicating a likelihood of primary beam directions (step). Generating the first probability map includes recording a first direction of a first user equipment (UE), the first direction indicating a direction of a first beam (e.g., a first set of antenna weights (a.k.a., precoding vector)) associated with the first UE when the first UE appears in the cell served by the network node. The method further includes generating a second probability map (P) indicating a joint likelihood of primary and secondary beam directions (step). Generating the second probability map includes recording a second direction of a second beam associated with the first UE when the first UE switches from the first beam to the second beam, the second direction being recorded in association with the first direction.

Efficient beam searching

A method by a first network node for handling directions of transmission of beamformed beams by a first radio network node. Both nodes operate in a wireless communications network. The first network node determines, out of a set of directions in which the first radio network node is capable of transmitting the beams, a subset of directions of transmission of the beams having a probability of detection above a threshold, by a first wireless device. The determining is based on data obtained from previous attempts of positioning one or more second wireless devices using at least some of the directions. The first network node also initiates providing, to at least one of the first radio network node and a second network node operating in the wireless communications network, an indication of the determined subset.

First network node methods therein for handling directions of transmission of beamformed beams

A method for assisting in multipoint data flow control in a wireless communication system having a number, n+1, where n&#x2265;1, of wireless-transmission points. The method comprises obtaining, for each of the wireless-transmission points, a round trip time of a present sampling period for data travelling to a user equipment via a respective wireless-transmission point and an acknowledge message travelling back. A round trip time skew is computed for the present sampling period for individual wireless-transmission points. The round trip time skew is a difference between the obtained round trip time of a respective wireless-transmission point and a reference value. A reference round trip time value is provided for each wireless-transmission point in dependence of the round trip time skews. A rate control signal is generated, for each of the wireless-transmission points, in dependence of a respective reference round trip time value. Corresponding arrangements are also disclosed.

Round trip time skew control methods and arrangements

The proposed technology generally relates to flow control in wireless communication systems and in particular to methods and devices for flow control in multi-point transmission wireless communication systems.

Flow control in wireless communication systems

The solution presented herein controls a transmission timing of data from multiple transmission points to synchronize the data reception at a receiver to within pre-specified limits. To that end, a skew timing is determined from a difference between a second delay (a transmission time between the master node and a second slave node) and a first delay (a transmission time between a master node and a first slave node). A deadzone mapping is applied to the initial liming error (determined from a difference between a reference skew timing and the skew timing) to determine a final timing error. The deadzone mapping is configured to adjust the initial timing error responsive to a comparison between the initial timing error and a timing error range. The first and second delays are controlled using the final timing error to keep the skew timing within the timing error range.

Interval time control for 5G multi-connectivity

Embodiments herein relate to a network node operable in a radio communication network and a method performed by the network for communication between the network node and a wireless device. The method comprises obtaining () information associated with a channel quality of a channel between the network node and the wireless device; and estimating () respective one or more variables associated with the channel quality based on the obtained channel quality information. The method () further comprises determining () an Outer Loop Link Adaptation, OLLA, adjustment based on the obtained channel quality information, and based on the estimated respective one or more variables associated with the channel quality, and when the obtained channel quality information indicates that the channel performance is acceptable: also based on a Sequential Hypothesis Testing, SHT, of the obtained channel quality information.

Network node and method for outer loop link adaption

A multi-point transmission system comprising a plurality of slave nodes () for transmitting data to a wireless receiver is described herein. An outer feedback loop and a plurality of inner feedback loops () connecting the plurality of slave nodes () to a master node () controls the timing skew of each slave node () using measurements provided by the slave nodes () to substantially synchronize the receipt of the transmitted data at the wireless receiver. In so doing, the solution presented herein provides improved multi-point control for any number of transmission points, which improves capacity, and solves the potential flow control problems associated with ultra-lean transmissions.

Centralized multi-node flow control for 5G multi-connectivity

The solution presented herein manages the feedback from multiple transmission points by reducing the amount of feedback provided by one or more slave nodes to a controlling master node. To that end, methods and apparatus are provided that determine whether there is a need for the slave node to provide feedback to the master node. Responsive to this determination, the methods and/or apparatus operate the master and/or slave node in a reduced feedback mode that manages the feedback provided by the slave node to the master node such that an amount of feedback provided by the slave node when operating in the reduced feedback mode is less than an amount of feedback provided by the slave node when operating in a full feedback mode.

Management of 5G split bearer flow control

A method for multipoint data flow control, performed in a controller entity of a wireless communication system, comprises receiving of a data flow from a source flow queue. The data flow is split into split data flows, one for each of at least two wireless transmission points. Measures of timing skews for transmissions or quantities from which such timing skews can be deduced are received from each of the at least two transmission points. The data flow splitting is controlled in dependence of the timing skews. The split data flows are transmitted to the at least two wireless transmission points. A method for assisting in multipoint data flow control, network nodes configured for multipoint data flow control and assisting in multipoint data flow control, and computer programs therefore are also disclosed.

Multipoint data flow control

There is provided a method performed by a network node for determining the transmit power to be used on a physical channel. The method comprises the step of obtaining values for the geometry factors G of a set of User Equipments, UEs. The method also comprises the step of creating, based on the obtained geometry factors and representations of the statistical moments of the geometry factors, a statistical measure G* for the set of UEs. The method also comprises the step of determining a value representing the transmission power for physical channel transmissions based on a power control expression for physical channel transmissions comprising the statistical measure G* for the set of UEs, and setting the transmission power to the determined value. A corresponding network node and a corresponding computer program is also provided.
