A gasoline dispensing system and method according to which one end of a dispensing hose is connected to a source of gasoline, and a nozzle is connected to the other end of the hose for dispensing the gasoline. A conductor is connected to a source of energy to cause the energy to be transmitted flow through the conductor. The conductor extends through the length of the hose and the dispensing of the gasoline is terminated when current ceases to flow through the conductor as a result of it breaking in response to a drive-off, or the like.

Gasoline dispensing system and method with automatic dispensing shutoff

A gasoline dispensing unit and method according to which one end of a cord is attached to a dispensing hose to support the hose relative to a dispenser unit during non-use. The other end of the cord is attached to a drum having a tapered outer surface and a continuous spiral groove. When the hose is not in use, the cord is wound on the drum from the largest-diameter drum portion to the smallest-diameter portion. The cord thus unwinds from the drum from its smallest-diameter portion to the largest-diameter portion when the hose is pulled from the housing to provide a mechanical advantage and reduce the required pulling force.

The sensor includes a display device that responds to the sensing of the rotation, and therefore the fluid flow through the meter, and provides a corresponding output signal. A system and method for testing the pressure in a fluid system, according to which a member is provided for connecting to the fluid system in a manner to receive fluid from the system. A hydraulic cylinder establishes a fluid pressure and is connected to the member so that the cylinder can establish a predetermined fluid pressure in the system which is measured by a gauge and monitored.
