In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may receive an otw signal that is associated with low-path pass information and transmission data. The apparatus may apply a cost function and an update function to the otw signal prior to sending the otw signal to an oscillator. The apparatus may determine a correction factor for use in estimating a gain of the oscillator based at least in part on an output of the update function.

Apparatus and method for an all-digital phase lock loop

Methods, systems, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for isolating a desired GNSS signal from a plurality of GNSS signals with the same code are presented. In some embodiments, a method may comprise receiving, by a mobile device, the plurality of GNSS signals, wherein the plurality of GNSS signals include the desired GNSS signal. Subsequently, the method may comprise processing the received plurality of GNSS signals to a down-converted signal, wherein the down-converted signal has a lower frequency than the desired GNSS signal, and wherein the down-converted signal includes a first channel associated with a non-zero frequency. Moreover, the method may comprise processing the down-converted signal to offset the first channel by an offset frequency corresponding to a fraction of the first channel to create an offset down-converted signal. Furthermore, the method may comprise determining the desired GNSS signal from the offset down-converted signal based on the offset frequency.

A multichannel communications medium may have two or more channels available for transmitting information. A first transmission signal and a second transmission signal may be prepared from a same analog signal to be transmitted on a first channel and a second channel. For example, a phase shift or amplitude shift may be performed on the first transmission signal or the second transmission signal. The first transmission signal may be transmitted via the first channel, and the second transmission signal may be transmitted via the second channel. The phase shift or amplitude shift may be performed by analog components that are less complex than digital signal processors used for digital signal diversity. The analog components may be digitally controlled. The analog signal diversity may utilize cost effective analog components to improve the performance of the communications system over single channel communications without requiring complex digital signal processing of multiple signal paths.

Analog signal diversity in multichannel communications

A first network device can implement null beamforming functionality to generate a NULL at a receive port of a second network device. In one embodiment, the first network device can estimate beamforming parameters to be used for transmitting the data signal to a first receive port of the second network device and for generating a null signal at a second receive port of the second network device, so that the second network device does not receive the data signal at the second receive port. In another embodiment, the first network device can estimate beamforming parameters to be used for transmitting the data signal to a receive port of the second network device and for generating a null signal at a receive port of a third network device, so that the receive port of the third network device does not receive the data signal.

Null beamforming in a communication network

Systems and methods for tuning an antenna for a frequency modulation (FM) transceiver are provided. A representative system includes: a network of electrical adjustable passive components that receives and sends radio frequency (RF) signals to a receiver circuitry via the network of electrical adjustable passive components. The receiver circuitry determines the received signal strength indication (RSSI) of the RF signal. The system further includes a transmitter circuitry that transmits RF signals via the network of electrical adjustable passive components, and a peak detector circuitry that receives and determines a voltage output of the RF signals from the variable capacitors. An auto-tune circuitry receives the RSSI and output value from the receiver circuitry and the peak detector circuitry, respectively. The auto-tune circuitry is configured to adjust capacitance values of at least one of the serial variable capacitor and the parallel variable capacitor based on the RSSI and the voltage output during the reception and transmission of the RF signals, respectively.

Systems and methods for tuning an antenna for a frequency modulation transceiver

The present invention determines those mathematical processes that are repeated in the standard search schema, and uses this information to simplify the process by eliminating repetition of processes that have already been performed. The present information can be implemented in standard circuitry and with fewer instructions than the standard approach. As such, the present invention allows for receiver implementations that are of lower cost and lower power consumption, while achieving the same functionality as the standard receiver topology. The present invention achieves these goals by forming a lookup table of partial accumulations, and presents a method to efficiently address these partial accumulations for use during the accumulation and correlation processes performed by the receiver. These partial accumulations are in turn added together, or accumulated, to form the total accumulation over the desired time period. This eliminates the need of a specific operation of multiplication, or equivalent, on the incoming data. The present invention details a method for grouping similar operations, and presents a series of operations to utilize these groups for replacing a portion of the correlations and additions that would be carried out in the classical approach.

Method for reducing the calculation complexity for code acquisition and correlation

An active circuit includes (a) a first chopper circuit that receives an input signal and a chopping signal of a frequency higher than a base band of the input signal, and that provides a modulated input signal; (b) an amplifier that receives the modulated input signal and that provides an amplified signal resulting from amplifying the modulated input signal; and (c) a second chopper circuit that receives the amplified signal and the chopping signal to provide an output signal. The chopping signal has a frequency that may be dynamically adjusted to accommodate changes in impedance and signal spectrum as a result of the operations of the chopper circuits. The active circuit further includes a low pass filter that receives the output signal and that attenuates components of the output signal above the base band of the input signal. In this manner 1/f noise introduced by the amplifier is eliminated or reduced.

A method and apparatus for detecting the presence of a specified voltage source and automatically switching off a second voltage source regardless of voltage source potential of the two voltage sources are disclosed. The present invention uses pinch-off of a JFET, controlled by an inverter, to control a backup power supply based on the availability of the main supply.

A smart external antenna module is proposed for wireless systems. The module allows the advantages of smart antennas to be easily added to existing wireless systems without any modification to the transceiver. Specifically, the smart antenna module weights and combines the signals received by multiple antennas to improve the received signal quality, and then when it detects that there is a signal to be transmitted by the transceiver, it turns off the receiver, turns on the transmitter and uses the receive weights to transmit the signal out of the multiple antennas to improve signal reception at the desired user. Such a module can be added to the external antenna port of an existing transceiver with no change to that transceiver.

System and method for providing a smart antenna

A method and apparatus for minimizing the interference between wireless transmissions and a proximately located or co-located GPS receiver is disclosed. By feedforward of a phase and amplitude adjusted version of the transmitted signal and combining said signal with the composite signal at the input of the GPS receiver, the GPS receiver sensitivity degradation is reduced or eliminated in the case of perfect cancellation, and the GPS receiver is not jammed by the wireless transmissions. The invention allows a single antenna to be implemented for GPS reception and wireless transmission and reception without unduly complicating the diplexing/filtering network required to separate the multiple signals being transmitted and/or received by the single antenna.
