A drinkware flavor applicator comprising a housing with an opening, an internal reservoir, a stop plate, a filter and a seal. Flavoring is stored in the reservoir and/or in the filter. The flavor applicator is placed over the drinking end of a bottle and flavoring stored in the reservoir and/or filter is transferred to the bottle.

A slip resistant hinge system for doors and, in particular, frameless glass doors, is provided. The hinge includes a dovetail-shaped central raised portion that minimizes or prevents the possibility of the glass slipping when secured to the hinge. The dovetail-shaped central raised portion can be designed as part of the hinge or can be created by inserts positioned around the central raised portion of the hinge. In operation, a corresponding dovetail-shaped opening is cut into the door for receiving the hinge.

Slip resistant glass hinge system

An apparatus for harvesting power from a current carrying conductor without electrically contacting the conductor is provided. The apparatus employs a coil with core and flux concentrators of high magnetic permeability steel that redirect the time-varying magnetic flux of the conductor to interact more strongly with the coil, and increase the coil's output voltage and power. A voltage converter may be used with a DC voltage output that can continually charge batteries or supercapacitors as well as provide energy for sensors, accelerometers, long-range radios to transmit data on local powerline conditions, and LEDs and buzzers. The apparatus may also have powered environmental sensors for measuring the concentrations of airborne particulate matter such as diesel exhaust and smoke, as well as toxic gases, greenhouse gases, allergenic pollens etc. The apparatus has a housing that is oriented and coupled to the conductor with a coupling.

Flux-enhanced energy harvesting from current-carrying conductors

A vertical wall mount system is provided that is easily installed in a perfectly level and plumb manner and is further cable of being design to be completely waterproof, interchangeable and customizable to include endless additional features. The vertical wall mount system includes two main components: a sub-frame assembly and a panel frame assembly. The sub-frame assembly includes mounting clips for pivotal attachment to a wall frame, such as, a standard 2&#xd7;4 stud. Horizontal wall rails are mounted on the mounting clips to create the sub-frame assembly. The horizontal wall rails are designed to support a panel assembly on the horizontal wall rails, which may, for example, include a tile panel. The panel assembly includes a panel frame secured to the back side of the panel, which panel assembly is designed to hang on the horizontal wall rails of the sub-frame assembly.

A method for assessing insulation deterioration in a live underground power cable may include, in one embodiment, attaching a coupling device to a live underground power cable and using the coupling device to couple a test signal onto the power cable. The power cable may carry a normal AC power signal at a first frequency, while the test signal may have a second frequency different from the first frequency. The test signal may be detected after it has traveled a distance along the power cable. It may then be analyzed to determine a change in velocity and/or attenuation of the test signal as a function of the normal AC power signal. The severity of water trees in the power cable may be inferred based on the magnitude of the change.

Method and system for assessing insulation deterioration in live underground power cables

An apparatus for measuring concentrations of airborne particulate matter may include, in one embodiment, a primary channel to receive air samples from the external environment. The air samples include particles of varying sizes. A microfluidic circuit communicates with the primary channel and small particles (having a size less than a threshold size) are diverted around a bend into a secondary channel. Remaining larger particles are unable to make the bend and continue through the primary channel. A mass-sensitive element communicating with the secondary channel includes a collection surface to collect the small particles. A resonant frequency of the mass-sensitive element is reduced in proportion to the mass of the particles collected.

Provided are various embodiments of an adjustment circuit, having a base layer and a piezoelectric layer juxtaposed relative to the base layer and including a first electrode such that when the piezoelectric layer is stressed a polarization charge appears between the base layer and one side of the piezoelectric layer and an opposite polarization charge appears on an opposite side of the piezoelectric layer.

Dynamically adjusting piezoelectric current sensors

An integrated microfabricated instrument for manipulation, reaction and detection of microliter to picoliter samples. The instrument is suited for biochemical reactions, particularly DNA-based reactions such as the polymerase chain reaction, that require thermal cycling since the inherently small size of the instrument facilitates rapid cycle times. The integrated nature of the instrument provides accurate, contamination-free processing. The instrument may include reagent reservoirs, agitators and mixers, heaters, pumps, and optical or electromechanical sensors. Ultrasonic Lamb-wave devices may be used as sensors, pumps and agitators.

A guide strip removal system includes a pair of guide strip removal devices positioned on opposite sides of a printer outlet where a continuous sheet of paper is discharged. The guide strip removal devices each include a pair of plate members secured together in a spaced apart parallel relationship to define a narrow slot therebetween. The plate members each have a corner portion delineated from a planar main body portion by respective narrow slits that extend from front edges of the plate members toward rear edges thereof. The corner portions are angled away from the main body portions to create paths for the side edge guide strips that diverge abruptly away from paths for the marginal side edge portions of the printer paper. The side edge guide strips are thereby removed from the marginal side edge portions of the, paper without the use of any moving parts or cutting blades.
