A modular control assembly for controlling a plurality of electromechanical components in a printing machine for producing prints on a substrate is provided. The assembly includes a body, a plurality of electrical components mounted onto the body. The assembly further includes a plurality of electrical conduits. Each of the conduits is electrically connected to at least one of the electrical components. The assembly further includes a plurality of electrical connectors. Each of the connectors is electrically connected to at least one of the electrical conduits. The electromechanical components are quickly electrically connectable and disconnectable to the assembly at the connectors.

Modular control assembly for xerographic printer

An electrophotographic reproduction machine for use as a copier/duplicator having a master microprogrammed controller and a plurality of area controllers cooperatively operative to carry out a plurality of machine operation tasks. At least one of the area controllers contains a separate microprogrammed controller for controlling selected tasks and devices in the reproduction machine in synchronism with the operation of other tasks as controlled by the master controller. An optical communication link couples the master and area controllers and serves to isolate the master controller from transients and a direct I/O connection.

Distributed microprocessor control system for a copier/duplicator

A reproduction machine having a plurality of operating stations and a plurality of devices for controlling operational tasks of said operating stations comprising a master controller having an arithmetic and logic unit for controlling the devices in accordance with sensed operational parameters and a stored operation program and interface means connected in a communication path between the master controller and the devices. The interface means comprises a fiber-optic communication path for isolating the master controller from electrical noise and transients of the devices.

Reproduction machine using fiber optics communication system

A programmable billing system for use in an automatic copying machine having wide flexibility in the automatic calculation of total bills using a single meter readout to count pulse trains weighted in proportion to the mode of operation of the machine and the billing rate per copy during operation in the selected mode. The system includes a copy counter for generating a unique binary code for each copy made from the same original. The output of the copy counter addresses a semiconductor memory device which is programmed to generate a set of unique binary billing rate signals for each different input or group of inputs from the copy counter during operation in a particular machine mode. The binary billing rate signals are programmed to be representative of the billing rate for the copy then being processed by the machine and are fed to a count down counter which generates a single pulse or a plurality of pulses or each copy, each pulse being representative of a single billing unit or rate. The total number of output pulses from the count down counter for a given copy is therefore a weighted output proportional to the relative cost of the given copy. An output pulse counter receives and counts the total number of output pulses generated by the count down counter and operates a billing meter. The total bill for operation of the copy machine may be calculated subsequently by simply multiplying the output meter reading by the known billing unit charge.
