Systems, devices and methods are provided for fabricating anisotropic polymer materials. According to various embodiments, a fluidic device is employed to distribute a polymer solution and a flow-confining solution in order to generate a layered flow, where the layered flow is formed such that a polymer liquid sheet is sheathed on opposing sides by flow-confining liquid sheets. The fluidic device includes first and second fluid conduits, where the first fluid conduit receives the layered flow. The second fluid conduit has a reduced height relative to the first fluid conduit, such that the layered flow is constricted as it flows through the second fluid conduit. The constriction formed by the second flow conduit causes hydrodynamic focusing, reducing the thickness of the polymer liquid sheet, and inducing molecular alignment and anisotropy within the polymer liquid sheet as it is hardened and as strain is applied during extrusion of the sheet.

Fluidic systems, devices and methods for inducing anisotropy in polymeric materials

Disclosed herein is an instrument that enables the in situ formation of architected planar biomaterials and tissues by translating a printer head along a deposition surface such as a patient having burn injuries. In handheld embodiments of the instrument, cell-laden biopolymer solutions are perfused through a moving microfabricated printer head and deposited onto a stationary planar surface or a wound. The printer head may be translated via a drive mechanism. A soft deformable roller mitigates further damage to the injured area of skin as it rolls over it and a gimbal mechanism to which the printer head is attached is in contact with the injured tissue but is configured so that the printer head while in contact with tissue, does not exert undue pressure on the would area.

Automatic stirring system for film developing

An adapter device for securement to an output rotary drive of a drill. The adapter comprises a housing having an input connector securable to the rotary drive, and an output connector. A fixed mode cam is immovably secured with respect to the housing. A displaceable floating cam is provided intermediate the input connector and a displaceable keying element. The floating cam is displaceable in and out of engagement with the input keying element. An adjusting assembly is provided to displace the keying element in and out of engagement with the fixed mode cam and the floating cam whereby the input connector can impart a rotary drive, rotary drive and impact forces or impact forces only to the output connector.

Hammer drill adapter

A fluid operated stepping motor comprising a cylinder housing having one or more fluid cylinders to alternately displace at least two cam engaging members when pressure from a pressure source is applied to one of the cylinders. The cam engaging members are diametrically opposed. A cam is secured relative to the cylinder housing and having a plurality of teeth asymmetrically disposed thereon, is also provided. Each tooth has a power profile surface and an idle profile surface. The power profile surface is slidingly engageable by one of the cam engaging members when pressure is applied to displace the said one cam engaging member axially whereby the power profile surface will cause relative rotational displacement between the cylinder housing and the cam.
