A timing device, that may be used in connection with food preparation, holding or service equipment, is programmable via a portable, replaceable media. In particularly, the timing device may be adapted to receive or associate with a media containing a set of instructions to affect operation of the timing device. Upon association with the timing device, transfer of the programming instructions from the media to the timing device occurs affecting programming of the timing device.

A controller for a food holding oven determines one or more time periods during each of which heat is directed at a pre-cooked food item. By controlling the heat intensity and the time over which different amounts of heat are provided to different types of pre-cooked food items, the time during which a particular type of pre-cooked food item can be kept palatable is maximized.

A food warming apparatus includes a cabinet with one or more heating compartments for holding one or more trays. Each tray has a rim extending outwardly from a tray opening and may contain previously cooked food portions. One or more dividers are removably mounted inside a heating compartment, dividing the heating compartment into a first sub-compartment and second sub-compartment. The one or more dividers include a first support flange that extends into the first sub-compartment and a second support flange that extends into the second sub-compartment. The first support flange supports a rim of a first tray in the first sub-compartment such that the first tray is suspended above a lower compartment surface of the heating compartment. The second support flange supports a rim of a second tray in the second sub-compartment such that the second tray is suspended above the lower compartment surface of the heating compartment.

A food timing system is disclosed that includes a number of timer modules associated with food holding devices in a restaurant. The timer modules are connected in a network for communicating information about the food being held in food holding compartments of the food holding devices. Each timer module includes a plurality of timers, with each timer being associated with a food holding compartment of a food holding device. The timers measure the holding time of food in each food holding compartment and are capable of transferring the holding time to another timer when the food is transferred to a holding compartment associated with the other timer.

The inverter circuitry requires minimal operating input power, is power factor correcting and may, if desired, include a dimming circuit. The circuitry further includes a runaway protection circuit which is activated upon sensing of a no load condition to place the inverter circuitry in a standby mode of operation.

A power supply for an electrostatic air cleaner incorporates a high frequency oscillator and a step-up transformer. The transformer includes a primary winding in series with a transistor, a secondary winding which cooperates with a voltage multiplying means to produce a desired output voltage for energizing the cell, and a feedback winding. The feedback winding is connected in circuit with the emitter-base circuit of the transistor and is responsive to voltage induced therein for effecting repetitive conduction and non-conduction of the transistor. The feedback winding is further connected in circuit with circuit means for adjusting and limiting the biasing of the transistor.

A television tuner drive system includes a bidirectional electric motor coupled to a rotatable channel selector. A carryover cam and switch coupled to the motor causes the motor power to be decoupled at each broadcast channel position. A plurality of cams are supported by a rotating drum coupled to the channel selector and coact with a cam follower and single pole switch to override the carryover switch and maintain power coupling to the motor. The drum-supported cams are positionable to selectively coact or clear the cam follower permitting programming of channel stop positions.
